#272501 My math professor can't speak a drop of English and everyone in the class...

Posted by grahamf on 14 February 2014 - 07:35 PM

I once had a high school Physics teacher from Romania that did speak English, but claimed everything he was teaching us was Romainian eighth grade stuff and you could follow along by just recognizing the units. He didn't last long.

Don't know how to help you though.

Read the book sweetie.

Math textbooks can be pretty rainbowty. I've had so many where they were chock full of example questions, but you have to look very very hard to find an explanation or procedure for solving the problem.

#271439 WiiUF Official XY Tournament Sign Ups!

Posted by SPG on 09 February 2014 - 09:53 PM

This tournament uses the Smogon OU metagame for its banlist and clauses.

For specific reasons on why Blaziken is banned, refer to this: http://www.smogon.co...oxys-n.3492497/

no, i understand that, but if blazikin itself its banned, isnt it redundant to say his item is banned too? i knwo its pointless for me to point this out but still

Except Lucario is readily available in X/Y. That and the Pokeball item is enough to get them mentioned.

It's scary how stupid his fans are.

I actually think that the attitude those types of fans have towards him is the same attitude that get people stuck in abusive relationships. The whole "you can do nothing wrong because I love you" thing.

If I was a parent, at this point I would sit my child down and tell him/(most likely)her why it's not ok to defend him, and that they should look at the situation honestly.

#267080 Why 2013 has been the worst year in gaming.

Posted by Abcdude on 17 January 2014 - 09:38 AM

In my honest opinion, last year was probably one of the best years of gaming.

We got a new Pokemon game, a new and long awaited entry into the Grand Theft Auto series, a sequel to two older games (Luigi's Mansion 2 and a link between worlds), probably what was the best entry into the Fire Emblem franchise, the final release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, an astonishing remake of Wind Waker, one of the best mario games in years (3D world), Sony and Microsoft's new consoles, tearaway, The Last of Us, Saints row 4, a crap load of stellar indie games, Batman: Arkham Origins, Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed 4, and alot more i'm probably missing here.

And they all turned out to be amazing, quality games.

#263423 wanting to love it, but......

Posted by KeptMyWiiUAndLeftTheForums on 25 December 2013 - 08:20 PM

I... don't really know if you can be hleped

The things that are bothering you are kind of no big deal for others, if not advantages.

For example logging into a profile is something windows has been doing for YEARS, so I don't think it really bothers anyone.

And I don't know if your gamepad is defiectve, because mine is light and fits my hands almost perfectly, and I've heard the same from the vast majority of owners.

It seems like deep down you want to hate the wii u and are kind of blowing things out of proportion. :/

or maybe you're scared of change?

I really don't know...

#254025 Nintendo killed 3DS SwapNote App

Posted by Ocarina of Time on 31 October 2013 - 07:45 PM

I entered my Nintendo Letterbox (swapnote) app today on 3DS and was greeted with a lovely message saying spotpass functions have ended.

Special messages will never be received again.

No longer are you allowed to send messages to friends a distance away.

This was caused because people were abusing the app by sending offensive material to each other.

I am saddened by this.  I used this with my little brother a lot and now it's gone.

Guess Nintendo likes to ruin the fun for everyone because of some bad eggs in the crowd.

I have a problem with this.  Both parties needed each others codes to even send messages and WHO is it hurting by what friends exchange with each other?  Even the streetpass part of it needed the other party to have your code registered.  It's not like some minor is going to see a pee-pee drawing randomly while walking down the street, oh, PARENTAL CONTROLS SAY HELLO.

I guess Nintendo should kill everything which can interact with another person.

Goodbye going to another town in animal crossing.

Goodbye pokemon chatting.

Keep Nintendo off the internet or else they'll remove the crappy browser too!  Keep up the good work.

Hurry up and move to the 21st century for goodness sake, embrace the internet and online communication better.

Looking forward to flipnote studio where I can share drawings with friends and my brother.....unless they decide to not release it because of this fiasco.

EDIT: As of Today (november 1st), Japans Flipnote Studio app has now been affected the same way as Swapnote.  Sharing with the friends gallery is no longer available.

I guess the only option for flipnote now is to pay for the online service (No thank you).

Damn you Nintendo.

#253097 Pokemon X and Y: My Final Thoughts

Posted by Blake on 25 October 2013 - 01:04 PM

As most of you know, leading up to its release, I was incredibly hyped for Pokemon X and Y. And after over 100 hours and almost 2 weeks to develop an opinion, I feel obliged to post an opinion topic.

X/Y are definitely not the best the series has to offer. I found the soundtrack underwhelming compared to past entries, the plot is very straight forward, which is very disappointing considering how thought provoking Black and White's plot was. Super Training takes a long time and is pointless when you can learn about the wonderful that is EV Training off Horde Battles. Gym battles were very easy and required no preparation at all, even with the EXP. Share turned off, which brings me to my other issue with the game.

I played through most of the game with the EXP. Share turned on, but then I realized how overleveled I was becoming and turned it off in favor of a challenge. I have spoke with other people about their endgame levels, and most were 10-20 levels over mine. To think you can sweep the entire E4 with just one Pokemon your first time around is ridiculous. I feel like I have to handicap myself in order for the games to feel challenging.

The post-game is virtually nonexistent. There's one more town to explore, and some side quests. The post-game in B2/W2 was great, there was plenty to do and places to explore, and it makes me wonder why they didn't give this game the same treatment. Although a major complaint for some people, for myself it falls under the minor complaints. Between shiny hunting, EV Training, and online battling, there's plenty to do but these activities don't appeal to the average player.

I love the graphics. Battles have never felt so dynamic. The series has finally made the leap into 3D, and it transitions beautifully. All the Pokemon have brand new 3D models, and they look great. I'm a big fan of XD/Colosseum, so a portable title that has the feel of those games is great. The online features finally get some serious effort put into it, with a click of two or three buttons I can initiate a battle or a trade with someone on my friends list. It's a giant step up from previous entries.

Another great addition is character customization. No longer are you bound to the threads your mother gave you when you went out on your journey, you can buy your own clothes! Everyone looks different, so it coincides with the new online features fantastically.

Besides my complaints, X/Y are still a great games. They still hold the charm the franchise sells for, and that's training and battling with Pokemon. And with the new online features, I can challenge my friends to battles whenever and share that feeling of raising Pokemon. I will continue to play it until my eyes gorge out of their sockets.
