#179463 Worry about the Wii U? Read this

Posted by routerbad on 05 March 2013 - 12:41 PM

All of this we know about. All of this has been mentioned and discussed here and elsewhere. Its hardly concrete evidence or even a reality. Its all supposition and speculation and doesn't change anything at this point.

True, but it is nice to see an article that isn't dripping with contempt for Nintendo.

So it sounds like he's retiring soon. :(

This is a sad day for Nintendo fans. This man is legendary, it would be sad to see him go.

i dont see him retireing anytime too soon. i like how hes trying to get the younger staff to start to be more independent. this could lead to some really good games.

I have a bad feeling that even if he's training new younger people...I just feel that Nintendo will cripple under the pressure of the other companies. Shigeru Miyamoto IMO is the only thing holding the company together right now and the minute he leaves....Nintendo will descend into Chaos. I see Iwata stepping down first after that, then Reggie...

Then Bill Trinen will become CEO :P

He only said that he is preparing to retire, plus he has a lot of projects on at the moment, he could still be around for a long time.

He isn't retiring soon.

Just being wise about the fact he is turning 61.

here is a summary based on His own quoted in that article.

“This year I’m past 60; I’m going to be turning 61 this year. So for me to not be thinking about retirement would be strange,” Miyamoto said to GameSpot. “But in fact, the number of projects I’m involved in–and the volume of my work–hasn’t changed at all.”

“And this actually has nothing to do with any kind of retirement planning or anything of that sort..."

He is just trying to groom the younger guys to be leaders and move the company on right now, so that when he is gone, it will be a natural next step.

And that kind of forward thinking is just one of the reasons Nintendo has been so successful for such an amazingly long time.

Does any one know who would mostly likely replace him?

I think only he knows who will be picked. I'm sure whoever it is will be a perfect fit. I look forward to the next generation of minds at Nintendo.

Literally days ago I bought the Wii U ZombiU Deluxe Set, I love it! I've mainly played on the PS3 and Xbox 360, laughing at whatever Nintendo released; however the Wii U really captured my attention, I took a risk buying it and it turned out to be well worth it. However I feel pretty lonely online even with the Miiverse! So I searched google for an active community and here I am! My name is Wes, I'm 19 years old and have been playing video games all through my childhood. I currently reside in beautiful Vancouver, Canada and work as a sales associate at a huge sports retail chain. How is everyone doing!?

I agree the Wii was subpar on many levels however the Wii U is going to be beast but I'm getting off topic. My name is Saturn and welcome to the forums. Don't let the spambots deter you from coming here the mods are working on it. Enjoy your stay bro.
