#211877 Is the wii u THAT underpowered?

Posted by 3Dude on 27 May 2013 - 01:30 PM

So um..... the truth is probably in between what one side says and the other.

No, its not.

Unlike certain yo yo's i DONT use internet message board posts as 'facts'.

Everything i say is backed straight from the source, with official ibm documention. That i can actually provide. Which i will, attached to this post.

750 architecture gets 2.32 dmips per mhz FACT.

ppe/xenon (xenon is 3 ppe's) gets 1879 dmips @ 3.2 GHz, do the math, thats .59 dmips per mhz FACT.

Fact vs loaded hearsay.

There is nothing in between.

#212281 Sonic Lost Worlds Trailer released!

Posted by MorbidGod on 28 May 2013 - 09:45 AM

I want to be impressed, but as much as a sonic fan I am, i'm not impressed by the graphics or the world at all. I'll see where it's going to go, I still want to see how it turns out.

What are you expecting for graphics exactly? I can't find the quote, but I think Sega stated that the next generation won't be looking for a highly realistic style and will continue with what they been doing. Which are bright and colorful graphics. These graphics are great in my opinion. So I'm just wondering what were you expecting?

#210836 x86 = Nintendo's Doom?

Maybe nintendo should stop keeping secrets on their hardware and what it can do. And iwata is surprised people thinks isn't underpowered because its sturggiling to keep up with 360 ports.

UnchainedGoku, on 23 May 2013 - 7:46 PM, said:I'm getting tired of these articles, Xbox One just got announced go pick on that for a while leave Wii U alone, it's fine, give it 6 months and you'll see!

Yeah, Wii U doom and gloom is so last month! It's time to bash the Xbox One.

http://www.engadget....re-vs-nintendo/

I've talked about this before. I do agree that, in the world of third parties, being on POWER ISA can be a negative. However, I don't think Nintendo depends on third parties. So I don't really agree that this will move Nintendo out of the hardware business, only be a reason certain developers move away from the Nintendo platform.

What do you guys think?

#209536 How will you feel if the PS4 and NEXTBOX launch price is similar to the WII U?

Posted by Keviin on 21 May 2013 - 10:45 AM

They're gonna be way more expensive. X1 comes with Kinect, which can be pretty expensive tech for all we know, and its specs aren't exactly funny either.

#209596 Xbox One unveiled... Diminishing returns?

Posted by routerbad on 21 May 2013 - 12:22 PM

I still blame the wii u's cpu for not getting unreal engine 4 when everyone else is.

Yeah, no.  You can blame shrewd business practice on EPIC's part.  They just finished porting UE3 to Wii U, there is no reason to port UE4, especially considering it has basically the exact same feature set sans the workflow, when they can let someone else do it, which will most likely be happening.

and with that said, regarding games, i think Nintendo will once again offer a better experience in gameplay and innovation with it's gamepad. Just my opinion though.

I agree.  Nintendo and Sony seem to be the most interested in games, Microsoft is trying to expand the userbase through massive media integration and accessibility.

I found this today and thought this is great;

http://nintendoevery...h-the-hardware/

These are the guys responsible for The Yebis 2 engine which I think was used in the Final Fantasy demo.  Call all tekkies to help clarify.

This was done from my phone I'll edit when I get home.

I liked what the developer said. Some will love it, others will have trouble porting their games. Which, seems to be the case.

#207680 A Call To Arms: Nintendo Fans, This Is The Time!

Posted by MorbidGod on 16 May 2013 - 07:44 AM

I already have a Wii U.  I bought it on launch.  But I am tired of missing out on the triple A games that get released on other consoles and not on Nintendo consoles.  On E3 2011 Nintendo showed Ken Levine of Bioshock praising the Wii U, 2 years later Bioshock Infinite gets released yet we don't get a Wii U version, why?  I missed Crysis 3 also because it wasn't released on a Nintendo console.  Metro Last Light was another game that appealed to me that I missed out because again, no Wii U version.  I'm not even sure if we going to get GTA5, another game that appeals to me.  So how many more games will I miss out.  That the reason I will get a PS4 (the first time I will own a non Nintendo console) to play the triple A games that I am tired of missing out on and will keep my Wii U for the ocassional good game that might come its way.  That Eternal Darkness successor game might be good and probably will be only on Wii U (other than PC), so that will be one of the games I will have my Wii U for.

I do understand your pain. I wanted Crysis 3 too. Metro Last Light looked good. So I can understand buying a PS4.

All I ask is when a developer does take a risk on the Wii U, and hopefully gives us the full version (or a better version) that you choose Wii U instead of PS4. Like if GTAV comes to Wii U.

And yes, as I have said to others, if the Wii U version is inferior don't buy it. We don't want to support bad games. Only good ones.

#206257 capcom announces mh3u a smash hit

Now that Capcom has proven the series is popular on Wii U, how about they ditch the old Wii engine and give it the Deep Down treatment...
