#256248 Wii U, The Worst Holiday Gift This Season.

Posted by Rockodoodle on 14 November 2013 - 07:09 PM

Yeah, as mentioned, I'll bet kids would hate getting W101, Rayman Legends, Sonic, Mario 3d, Wii U Party, Pikmin or Wind Waker etc. for Christmas....

Gotta love how they state no reason at all as to why it's a bad gift. Just that "it's a dud" and "XBO/PS4 are the only consoles people want this season". No legit complaints about games/online/account system/3rd party support/etc. Just seems like cheap shot and saying "lol Wii U sucks" for the sake of it. Not to mention this really feels like bait for fanboys. I could name some other tech items that are worse than this for Christmas, Ouya specifically comes to mind.

#256107 Getting a Wii U tomorrow! What accessories should I get?

Posted by Rockodoodle on 13 November 2013 - 08:55 PM

Pretty sure it doesn't but it's only $30 now.  I'd definitely recommend it for that price.

Good choices. Does Nintendoland come in your bundle? I forget if it does since you are getting the Mario U and Luigi U.. either way... it's a great local multiplayer game

#255974 Very long rant about Nintendo.

Posted by Rockodoodle on 13 November 2013 - 09:17 AM

I'm a casual gamer.  I'm fine with the number of titles out and actually have a backlog of games.  I'm more concerned with Nintendo for sales purposes. They don't need to sell me.  I've even thought about getting a second Wii U for when my kids visit their grandmother.

I just think people would be more apt to buy a Wii U over other consoles if they had more of their big sellers out, especially by now or at least in the months right after Christmas.

Have you ever owned any other console at launch before? Because I would consider this to be pretty normal to slightly below par for a first year. If you're expecting them to get a new exclusive game for every year then you're going to be sorely disappointed with the other two systems. Speaking for first party, just because they have one development team at work on a Wii U game doesn't necessarily mean all the rest are ready as well. Nintendo does have another device to make games for and teams finish up work at different times so not everyone is able to begin working on their Wii U games at once.

Take Sakurai for example. Last year he was still busy at work with Kid Icarus until around March. Even if he jumped straight off of that project and on to Smash Bros. then he's still had less than two years to work on the game. It's going to be amazing if we see that game ready any time before fall or winter of next year. That being said I do think that Nintendo needs to work on expanding their staff and getting more studios under their belt as much as possible. Especially since third parties are basically giving the Wii U the finger. They can't rely on just Miyamoto and Sakurai forever. This is where I agree with Rich in that they do need to get new blood in to their company. Not necessarily people who are going to try to 'westernize' or CoD up Nintendo, I don't think anyone with half a brain wants that, but at least new people with new ideas. Nintendo needs a few more Retros and a few more close, almost second party, partners like Platinum.

Not bad.  I really liked the Andre Aggassi commercial.

#254660 Play Super Mario 3D World at Pottery Barn Teen

Posted by Rockodoodle on 05 November 2013 - 12:47 PM

Well, they have done an atrocious job of marketing.  When I tell people about my Wii U, they look at me rather puzzled and I have to just say the new Wii.  then they say, "Oh, I didn't know that they had one...."

Its Pottery Barn TEEN!!! You ignorant baboons

Nintendo fans are known for being hipsters.... It wouldn't make sense to be at Best Buy or Game stop; they're too mainstream.

You guys act like Nintys marketing department is a bunch of idiots unaware to what modern day gamers want.... well news flash this isn't 2002 anymore! We cant have bad ass commercials anymore, we need Cubicles and Pottery Barn Teen and Wayne MotherF***in Brady!

#253760 Nintendo Sales Report Q2 2013

Posted by Rockodoodle on 30 October 2013 - 06:58 AM

You have to think that the lack of marketing- and the very poor marketing that they have is a factor.  Granted, a lot of it might be due to the lack of games, lack of exclusives, so maybe they will have a better story to tell. Would hope they start advertising and then especially advertise during the Olympics, since that's an exclusive.  The stock is holding up at 14 and change.

3.91 million total? That is not good.

W101, Pikmin, and Wind Waker did very little.

I am interested in what Mario does. I doubt alot because the timing with the new consoles is horrible.

I am actually saddened ny this. Did I want my prediction of the PS4 passing unit sales by March happen? No.

I expected more from Nintendo for some reason. But they lost the marketing battle before the system was released.

#253488 Anyone else still unsure what console to get? (Xbone or PS4)

Agreed with those that picked Wii U.... MIGHT get another system in like two years.

#248487 What's wrong with me? Trouble enjoying games

Posted by Rockodoodle on 28 September 2013 - 01:40 PM

I've been hoarding games- i have over 30 games for my Wii u and 3ds, but only play a third of them on a regular basis.  I picked up three more today and have some I haven't even played yet or barely played.  I need to stop buying new games.

Lots of things can cause these problems.

I know if i have to many games i dont tend to play them all to there fullness.

I remember when i was getting games every week, which lead me to not playing them all because i would get use to one and not the good at the other any more.

once i started spacing out when i got another game it was better and i was able to play the game to its fullness.

Also some games just arent what they use to be,

#247772 New Wii U bundles for Japan!

That's a good value.  Pick up Nintendoland at a reduced price and you can play a long time w/out getting any more games....

#247748 What I dislike about the WiiU

Posted by Rockodoodle on 24 September 2013 - 02:36 AM

Even tho there's overlap- the Wii U offers a richer experience.

#246946 Anyone interested in starting Monster Hunter characters from scratch?

Posted by Rockodoodle on 19 September 2013 - 11:42 AM

I've played it twice- it looks cool but I haven't invested the time in it just yet..... so maybe I would be a good candidate.

I don't even remember my Wii U id- how do you find it?

I just got a 3ds and my code is: 2122 6501 6277.  I'm 44.  Feel free to add me.  Love MarioKart and Star Fox. I have Fire Emblem, but haven't started it yet.  Also have Luigi's Mansion- played some and Professor Layton.  Big fan of Tekkin, Sonic and Zen Pinball on Wii U.
