#300333 GAMER-GATE

Posted by 3Dude on 13 October 2014 - 07:02 PM

Lol are those quotations you posted what you consider "clearly defined"? I suppose anytime you use any adjective in a sentence it's being clearly defined. Even more so when it's a word that has an alternate definition that proceeded it for hundreds of years.

I was wrong about the sites you posted being connected. I saw Jezebel and just assumed. It's not connected to Zoe Quinn, just an idiotic site run by idiotic people. In my defense it can be so hard to tell the difference these days. Also I was relating it to a ChSommers video I saw them in recently.
All the same the sites you've posted are all opinion pieces that are clearly sided with anti gamergate and do not even attempt to get the other side's perspective or call out the shady practices the side they're supporting has.

Dude there were two minutes inbetween our posts, I clearly didn't see your post before I posted mine. And I'm kind of busy eating dinner. Chill down some.

"They call you useful idiots (actual term, not surprisingly used by /pol/) or normals behind your back by the way."

1. yeah, I do.

2. tumblr_inline_n8s25sPq4W1rkg7ly.gif

The Jezebel peice is freelanced from an academic, Jennifer Allaway, whos study, at a university, with a team of professors, was actively sabatoged by gamergate because she stumbled onto their crap in her studies data collection. Unfortunately for gamergate, she happens to be a social researcher who specializes in profiling hate groups. They simply became new data to record.

BUSTED!

"In under four hours, the developer survey jumped from around 700 responses, which had been collected over the course of a month, to over 1100 responses. The responses were not nearly as subtle as the anonymous poster above urged. They ranged in their degree of racism and misogyny, but they all all ridiculed the project with dishonest mockery. It appeared that less than 5 percent of the new responses had actually come from developers."

Remember kids, Gamergates not REALLY about harrassmnet... Except it is. Thanks for trying to waste our tax dollars gamergate!

And guess what the academic, and her team of professors working with her, who specializes in social research, professional opinion on the data Gamergate accidentally volunteered to her was? Why, the Social research specialist team profiled Gamergate as a hate group in thier PROFESSIONAL opinion!

I think you are going to need to reach a little deeper than know your meme. Because this is LITERALLY a double blind, from professionals, who were NOT willingly involved. Great going gamergate!! Exposing yourself over and over again is the one thing I can always count on.

3. There IS no other 'side' No one who disagrees with gamergate is uniting under a unified tag banner, so you can through all that 'sides' crap out the window.

#299227 30 min of Fatal Frame

Posted by 3Dude on 25 September 2014 - 07:31 PM

AI and animation need to make huge steps towards acknowledging whats happening on screen, The framework is already in games, somebody just needs to go from 'make sure head looks at nearest object' to 'run scared facial animation and walk cycle appropriate to nearest threat'.

Not specifically a slant at this game, but at games in general, it just really sticks out to me here because everything else seems to be really well done... And then you have this girl who is supposed to be terrified lesuirely strolling through pissed off dead chick rave.

This kind of game could also really benefit from some environment contextual animation as well.

I really dont mean to sound so downo nt he game, im really not, it just looks so damn clean that these thngs really stand out now.... Where they really didnt before.

#298823 FFXV Trailer does it's best Xenoblade impression

Posted by 3Dude on 19 September 2014 - 11:48 AM

They seem like two different games to me. I don't see the point in comparing them. Both are probably going to be great anyway. On the subject of Final Fantasy XV, this is probably the most i've been excited about a Final Fantasy game in a very long time. It's an interesting concept, a fantasy world based on reality. The characters move so smoothly in combat and the graphics are pretty gorgeous.  I think it's going to be pretty cool. Xenoblade X looks pretty cool too (even though I don't have a Wii U).

Yeah, I always have a soft spot for reality based fantasy too.

People arent comparing the games, just the visual themes, which 15 very blatantly 'borrowed' from Xenoblade and X.

Its pretty conspicuous too. The game was shown off many times before, had nothing remotely X like about it. It dissapears for an extended period of time after X is shown off, and resurfaces with a new director and X styled imagery duct taped all over it. Thats what we are comparing.

And while we are mocking the blatant copying and car full of beleiber fanboys a little, I know I would be lying if I said aping X wasnt working, it appeals to me much, MUCH more than it did pre X copying.

UNFORTUNATELY, unlike X... Its not looking like its going to be remotely close to X in terms of open world exploration... Or even open world at all.

Given all of the interviews, and now the latest trailer, it does indeed look to be styled after the action games Nomura keeps likening it too, complete with an on rails adventure, and that highway looks like its your rails, looks like you get off when the game tells you can, tells you to go do your scripted events in the scripted areas and missions, and then get right back on the rails to go to the next attraction.

#297713 On the fence about buying a PS3/4

Posted by Hank Hill on 01 September 2014 - 06:56 AM

The PS4 can only play PS3 games through Playstation Now, which is their video game streaming service which is...stupidly expensive at the moment.

Only certain models of the PS3 are backwards compatible with PS2 games, but all models are backwards compatible with PS1 games.

A Vita is only really that great if you're willing to play a wide variety of games from indies to more niche titles. Personally, I think a Vita is well worth the money, but not before a PS3...which brings me to my last point.

I'd personally go with a PS3 right now. You can get a large deal of collections for it for $20 or less now, such as Jak & Daxter, inFAMOUS (includes inFAMOUS 1, 2, Festival of Blood and various DLCs), Uncharted, SoTC/ICO, Ratchet & Clank, and so on. I'd also suggest against getting a super slim if at all possible...I've heard poor things about it. Get PS+ as well, even if you just own one system. Claim all the games for PS3/Vita/PS4, save them up for when/if you eventually get those systems.

#297658 Pokkén Tournament Announced

Posted by Socalmuscle on 31 August 2014 - 09:27 AM

This latest reveal does look poorly done.

It shows potential and some basic fighting mechanics.

But the animation is extremely choppy and two characters using some goofy fighting moves against sparse backgrounds isn't the most exciting thing...

BUT

It has a way to go yet.

Reserve judgement for later.

There is certainly enough demand and enough funding to make this game everything it needs to be.

Just needs to stay off of other consoles.

#297249 Gone Home coming to WiiU!

Posted by Raiden on 28 August 2014 - 03:31 PM

Loved the game on PC. People who have not played it yet will expect one thing but get something very different. Some feel letdown but when you let it sink in it's great. I loved it more for the exploration and SNES references. Story is nice. I found my self replaying the game often to mess around as much as possible in the house and found some easter eggs.

Now Stanley Parable needs to come to Wii U. Won't happen but love to see it.

#296756 PSN Ddoss attack. Reasons why "PC MASTER RACE"

Posted by Chrop on 24 August 2014 - 10:15 AM

Not sure why you think condoms were created to stop people like that being born, but hey! Whatever floats your boat.
Also Sony seriously need to fix this, people are paying money monthly to get online, yet they're still getting attacked by hackers stopping their paying customers from actually getting their end of the bargain. That's bad

Thats such a weird picture in so many cool ways.

1. It uses the Halo 4 gui visor, as this is from one of the the former retro studios employee who worked on Halo 4.
2. It looks SOOOOOOO Metroid prime because... Its from one of the former retro studios emplyees.
3. Its the Ishimura from dead space.

Now just imagine this turning into a game XD.

#296018 Sonic Boom Gamescom Trailer

Posted by TheDoctor_13 on 15 August 2014 - 10:51 PM

If the game is really like this trailer, I would buy it so hard. Sadly the gameplay that we've seen seems sub-par. I don't have a issue with most of it, but some of it is just bad.

It doesn't force you to tho, no? I'm not for online transactions in video games but if it doesn't force me, it's alright.

#295662 Ps4Exclusive 'Wild' trailer

Posted by 3Dude on 12 August 2014 - 12:48 PM

LOVE the music. Mixed feelings about the rest. Some of it looks awesome and other parts I can't get behind. I need to see more but has my attention.

What will make or break this for me is whether or not its actually a game, or a cinematic rollercoaster ride where we keep our arms and legs inside the kart at all times.

But it definately has my interest.

Sony isnt just encouraging Indies to make games for their platform, they are publishing their games themselves, enabling experences that are more than what they can accomplish via kickstarter.

Its like they are attempting to revive the mid tier.
