#317334 EDM Production and Appreciation thread!

Posted by MatrixChicken on 25 November 2015 - 12:51 PM in The Museum

I wish someone would remix my music lol. Someone asked once, but there was never a follow up for that.

It'll happen. :D I think a certain type of song lends itself to remixing, haha. A song that's got some good ideas but doesn't quite execute perfectly is the type of song that at least I would remix.

Wow, this is... freaking epic.

Matrix, you will reach far.

This is my newest release... You might remember the melody as I posted it here ages ago.

Yeah it's really cool. :D And I hope I do!

Also, great job on Ena. You've gained quite the following lately! :D

Well I guess this is still on topic, so...

That Second Flight guy I was singing the praises of earlier did a remix of my song! :D

*snip*

Holy smokes, no need to be so intense! xD

I'll do it, I'll do it... Just not right now... :P

I'm becoming increasingly obsessed with 80s sound.

That splatoon remix is awesome too. the bass felt retro, but it felt like something was missing and I don't know what it is. Whenever I here "retro" though I think about mario kart if that helps :P

Yeah I feel ya. Not sure what I need to do...

I must say though, I'm absolutely loving having FL now. I can work on multiple things at once, and not fear losing my work to crashes.

Oh also, Seamless just released a tutorial for a Sytrus growl and it's literally exactly what I've been looking for. :L

Wanted to make some generic early 2010s electro huehue

Gonna try doing some remakes. This one already taught me how simple that signature Laszlo/Nanobii lead is. Just a saw with the unison cranked way up...

I love cinematic impacts.

Play with saw waves and distortion. I can send you the patch if you still struggle to find it.

Kk, thought it was something like that. Lately I've been learning that a lot of my favorite sounds are actually really simple. :P

#317820 EDM Production and Appreciation thread!

Posted by MatrixChicken on 16 February 2016 - 10:01 AM in The Museum

So did you remake that from scratch? It sounds really good lol. I've always wanted to make some sounds like Laszlo, but I don't have sylenth, which seems to produce the best sounding saws and plucks. I'm poor right now so I can't buy it

Yup! The intro is from the original, but the drop is mine. Here's the rest of it...

It's really easy tho... The lead is just sytrus with one saw osc, unison turned up to 9, some other slight tweaks and then of course vibrato, some distortion, EQing... I could do a little tutorial if anybody wanted... :P

But yeah, doing this did teach me some things, so I'm gonna have to do some more remakes...

Needs more punch in the impacts though. Side chain?

Overall, a very good track. But it kinda sounds like you've ripped off many sounds from Virtual Riot??

Yeah maybe some sidechain for the impacts would be good...

I won't deny that it does have a lot of VRish sounds... I'm not using any samples, all the growls were made from scratch, though I did loosely base them off of a Seamless tutorial on one of VR's old growls.

They started out as a lame FM growlish thing (https://clyp.it/yshhvdds), then I added a vowel filter (automated high pass and high peak) and it sounded like this (https://clyp.it/3aj0pzmt)... It's the only method to make growls I know so far, lol... I even have another MORE VRish growl I wanna use in this song... (https://clyp.it/tmhq2jjn) Just the same concept but the main oscillator is a square instead of a sine. :P

What's the deal with Veschell? Always deleting and reuploading stuff, and now he's deleted all his accounts pretty much...

Btw I dropped my previous project (I think) and started on this Glitch Hop track instead.

Ooooh yes, you needed to do some Glitch Hop. Sounds delightful :L

Nice job, as always.

dude it's sick. How did you do the chords though? I love them!

As in musically? Or technically?

For the sound design, I think (I can't completely remember heh) it's a layer of

supersaw.png

mixed with

harmorchords.png

(I highlighted the things I changed from the default preset.)

Of course there's some EQ and probably some reverb on there, too.

Musically? IDK lel

Uhhhh here's a thing I don't know what to do with...

#316023 Satoru Iwata passed away

Posted by MatrixChicken on 12 July 2015 - 07:53 PM in General Gaming

Most of all I hope whoever steps up holds the same values as he did. Part of what makes me love Nintendo so much is that they make great, fun, family friendly games. Even the more intense games like Metroid, they're not overly violent and filled with swearing. I just hope Nintendo doesn't lose Iwata and his values in one fell swoop.

Dang it, I'm legit crying. ;_;

#317918 NX controller possibly leaked - looks almost exactly like the patent

Posted by MatrixChicken on 22 March 2016 - 12:06 PM in General Gaming

I wouldn't be surprised if that object actually exists IRL, not photoshopped, but I really doubt it's what the NX controller will look like. It's literally the patent... When has Nintendo ever made a product that looks exactly like the patent?

The final design might be similar, but I really doubt they'll drop physical buttons, and if they do, there will be a good replacement for them.

#317323 Thoughts on Linkle

Posted by MatrixChicken on 24 November 2015 - 08:06 AM in General Gaming

I think Linkle is pretty cool. No reason to be mad about her, especially not her being a "ms. male character". That's just moronic.

As far as being the protag of a mainline Zelda game? No. Link has always been a male. No matter what people say, Link is a character, and he's male. There's a reason he always looks similar (green tunic, yellow droopy hair), and he's always called Link in non-Zelda games. MK8, Smash... Always referred to as Link. Changing that for no reason other than to appease SJWs is not a good idea. If they come up with a good story (or even better, gameplay) reason to have a female Link, then by all means, do it.

I have no problem playing as a girl. The Metroid series is probably my favorite series and you play as a female the whole time. I just don't want a character to be changed without any good reason.

Also, just anecdotal evidence here, but almost all of my sisters would rather play as a guy and enjoy movies and shows more when there's a male protag.

#317268 [confimed] Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U

March 2016

Doesn't sound like it's finished to me at all, then.

#317262 [confimed] Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U

Posted by MatrixChicken on 15 November 2015 - 12:07 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Considering how little they but improve textures to the game. Unlikely. Pretty much a straight port with better textures. If they were going to add the Wii version they would have straight up ported the Wii version. Besides game controls better without waggle.

Nah, there's no basis for this. WWHD had gameplay improvements, there's no reason to believe TPHD won't. And yes, I'm saying get rid of waggle. They have the technology for 1:1 motion control now. And having Wii controls would not be hard at all. I don't see what's so hard to get here.

#317265 [confimed] Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U

The game is most likely finished at this point, just waiting for release.

TPHD is likely done just sitting on release for march.

When is it releasing first?
