#242819 Your thought on Nintendo's advertising tactics

Posted by Julio93 on 29 August 2013 - 06:15 PM in General Gaming

Um, the reason why they added that Xbox logo its because they have a Pizza Hut app.

They could at least show a mini demonstration about the Wii U and say that its backwards compatible with Wii games and accessories, Internet advertisement isn't enough, they need casuals, Wii fit U isn't gonna sell if they put some damn commercials on television.

#242813 Swaggle me eyes! possible good news (AKA Platinum 2nd party and W101 sequel)

Posted by Julio93 on 29 August 2013 - 06:04 PM in Wii U Games and Software

http://www.ign.com/a...rful-101-sequel

Platinum Games' Hideki Kamiya has revealed he's keen to make a sequel to The Wonderful 101, and also shared his thoughts on porting the original Bayonetta to Wii U and becoming a second-party Nintendo developer.

When IGN Benelux asked the creator of Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101 whether or not he'd like to see a sequel to his most recent game on Wii U (perhaps called The Wonderful 102?) he said, "If I get the chance, I would certainly like to make that game.

"I really have no idea at this point, but I would love to make a sequel to one of my own games. We put a tremendous amount of work into this game and it would be unfortunate if I would not get the chance to tell a new story with these characters.

"However, some of the bad guys you beat in this game won’t appear in a sequel. That’s kind of a depressing thought."

Depending on sales and critical opinion of The Wonderful 101, a sequel is by no means guaranteed but it's encouraging to hear its creator would happily revisit the franchise. But if Platinum doesn't go on to make a sequel to the game, what else might it do?

I would love [to become a second-party developer]. It would be great to work more closely with Nintendo.

Well, according to Kamiya, the studio hasn't ruled out the idea of porting the original Bayonetta to the Wii U. With Bayonetta 2 due out exclusively on Nintendo's console next year, Platinum argues it would make sense for the original game to be available too so that newcomers to the series can catch up.

"I would love to make that happen, so that gamers unfamiliar with the first game get to play it," he explained. "This is just my personal opinion, however. I have not much say over the matter.

"However, I think designers should always keep in mind that not everyone has played the previous title, even if this was released on the same platform. You have to make sure that even players who are unfamiliar with the franchise are able to keep up."

With all this talk of developing for Nintendo then, you'd be forgiven for thinking Platinum Games was pretty much ready to get into bed with The Big N permanently. Despite the success of multiplatform hit Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance earlier this year and mutterings of a Platinum-fronted sequel, Kamiya admitted he'd happily see the studio become a second-party Nintendo developer.

When asked if he'd like to see the company officially join forces with Nintendo, he replied, "I would love that. It would be great to work more closely with Nintendo."

Whoa.....Nintendo hit the jackpot.

#242389 Nintendo's decisions 8/28/13 Your thoughts?

Posted by Julio93 on 28 August 2013 - 04:34 PM in General Gaming

Okay I knew Nintendo were gonna do something since I haven't heard anything from them for 2 weeks besides stupid Microsoft statements and Sony insults. The decisions they made today......Actually would attract a whole lot of customers.

First starting with their 2DS reveal, when I first saw the 2DS I literally groaned and face palmed saying its a stupid idea. But looking at the article, I slowly started to realize why they did that. Like an alarm about to go off in my head.

  • Great for the kids who couldn't play the original 3DS
  • Its price is very affordable
  • Its has everything that the 3DS already has besides the 3D gimmick.
  • Perfect for the Pokemon X & Y launch.

It may be for the younger kids but it might actually work for others who think that the 3DS is still a bit pricey.

Also I noticed something about the announcement.......They destroyed the Vita again. They just had that price cut last week and now a Nintendo handheld is three times more affordable than the Vita. Damn. Life support for the Vita is confirmed.......again.

Now the Wii U.....It was pretty good, personally I would have made it $280 but that's just me. Xbone - $500 Ps4 - $400 and Wii U $300 I'm not sure this may help alot but its worth a shot.

And finally the Wii U releases. Wow, Nintendo finally knows how to work with the digital releases the smart way, Wind Waker HD Digital version is 2 weeks earlier than the physical version, that is a very smart move. (Way more better than the Pikmin 3's 1 day early access.....)

Overall it was a pretty impressive move, we'll just have to wait and see what happens, especially for the Wii U since i personally don't think it will win over more and more gamers to buy a Wii U this year.

#242091 Batman Arkham Origins Wii U version - Still worth buying?

Posted by Julio93 on 27 August 2013 - 08:17 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Are you still willing to buy the Wii U version of Origins even though its missing saaaaaaay.......40% of content that's already on the 360 and PS3 version? It looks very gimped compared to the other versions as of now. I'm getting it on my PS3 to complete my trilogy collection of Batman......The collector's edition doesn't look that half bad either. Sooooo yeah I'll get it on my Ps3 instead.

#242057 What's the weirdest post you've seen on Miiverse.

Posted by Julio93 on 27 August 2013 - 05:14 PM in General Gaming

There's al ot of really good ones and bad ones that I can name off from yesterday like they want *Insert next gen game here* on Wii U and it will sell millions, The smash community has a bunch so pick your poison on their comment section.

The weirdest post I can remember is when I finally dusted off my Wii U to play Earthbound or something and checked the Youtube  miiverse community, I remember there was a guy saying: 'Any girls 15 through 19 years old wanna video chat?' Expecting any girl to say yes to that creepy comment? A stranger on the internet who wants to see a random girl. Course the girls turned him down.

#241776 EA no longer working anything offline.

Posted by Julio93 on 26 August 2013 - 04:33 PM in General Gaming

http://www.ign.com/a...that-is-offline

EA COO Peter Moore has stated at Gamescom 2013 last week, "We don't ship a game at EA that is offline." Speaking to Engadget, he said, "It just doesn't happen," and emphasized "we don't deliver offline experiences."

SimCity's always-online restrictions earlier this year caused controversy following a faulty launch -- so much so that a survey questioned users about the appeal of an offline mode. That is all but off the table, it seems. Moore elaborated that EA's biggest franchises -- such as Titanfall, Battlefield, and FIFA -- relied rather heavily on their online components. That said, EA's The Sims 4 will include an offline single-player experience -- while Battlefield and FIFA, of course, retain their campaign and career -- so the future isn't necessarily always online.

Things are changing at EA, however.

Speaking about FIFA and Battlefield, Moore expressed that both franchises "have free-to-play options depending on where you are in the world.... The ability for you to be able to interact with those franchises on a free-to-play basis has got to be part and parcel to every major franchise we do now." He continued to say this is "very important to Electronic Arts" regardless of "how much money you've got in your wallet and where you are in the world."

Just when you thought they would change, they always have to find a way to make other people's blood boil.

#241606 An 8 yearold boy shoots and kills her 90 yearold grandmother after playing GTA4

Posted by Julio93 on 25 August 2013 - 08:24 PM in The Café

http://news.sky.com/...ying-video-game

An eight-year-old boy intentionally shot and killed his grandmother minutes after playing the violent video game Grand Theft Auto IV, US authorities said.

The town of Slaughter, Louisiana, is in shock after the child was able to access the family's gun and shoot the 90-year-old in the head while she was watching television.

The woman, who was helping to look after the boy, was pronounced dead at the scene at the Country Breeze Mobile Home Park.

Sheriff's deputies have not revealed a motive but they pointed out the child was playing the video game before the fatal shooting.

The game, which is rated "M" for mature audiences and is recommended for ages 17 and above, has been associated with encouraging violence and awards points to players for killing people.

The child told investigators that he accidentally shot the woman while playing with a firearm, WAFB-TV reported.

But evidence has led investigators to believe the child intentionally shot her in the back of the head as she watched TV, it added.

Neighbour Johnnie Scott said: "Where did she have the gun? Where did he see the gun, was it in his eyesight? That's the thought that goes through my head."

Child psychologist Kristopher Kaliebe said access to a violent video game such as Grand Theft Auto IV may encourage aggressive behaviour.

He said: "From a behaviour therapy perspective, I would say that's practising.

"So if you have a video game where someone shoots at a target, that's sort of practising shooting at a target.

"When you have a video game that is shooting at a human being, that is practising shooting at a human being."

The child is being looked after by his parents. The authorities are treating the shooting as a "homicide".

The boy cannot be charged with a crime because of his age, the sheriff's office said.

Louisiana law states: "Those who have not reached the age of 10 years are exempt from criminal responsibility."

Whoa.....

#241462 Battlefield 4's graphics lacking on PS4

Posted by Julio93 on 25 August 2013 - 12:16 PM in General Gaming

http://www.ign.com/a...-lacking-on-ps4

With the arrival of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, EA and DICE have promised to bring the Battlefield PC experience to consoles, including massive scale maps, 64 player matches, and 60 frames-per-second gameplay. But up until now, all of the demos we've seen of Battlefield 4 have been running on supercharged PCs, producing jaw-dropping, unsurprisingly gorgeous results. This week at Gamescom, however, I had an opportunity to play Battlefield 4 on a PlayStation 4 development system, and the resulting experience has me worried.

In spite of EA and DICE's emphasis on narrowing the gap between consoles and PC, this week's PS4 demo did not include a full 64-player match or the franchise's beloved vehicular combat. Instead, attendees were treated to a local 16-player match of Domination mode, which limited the play area to a small segment of the game's freshly minted Paracel Storm map. While certainly a demonstration of how the game can be scaled down to satisfy players' need for object-based infantry combat, it's hardly living up to the promise of the "true" Battlefield experience's arrival on consoles.

But what's more concerning is how the game looks.

From the moment I sat down, I was surprisingly underwhelmed by the visuals. Instead of the crisp, detailed textures I've encountered this week on the PC version or other titles running on next-gen hardware, Battlefield 4 on PS4 looked soft and muddled. Wall textures looked half-finished, lacking some of the smaller material nuances or 3D variation. Environmental destruction was more extensive than Battlefield 3 and explosions would send larger chunks of buildings into the air, but once again, the particles looked dull. Weapon models looked great at the hip, but as soon as I raised them to look down the iron sights or scopes, imperfections became apparent.

Another contributing factor was resolution. While EA and DICE have not confirmed what resolution the game will run at on next-gen consoles, for the purposes of this demo, it was running at a resolution higher than 720p, but not 1080p. Though the difference between the two formats may not be recognizable to more casual players, after spending the week checking out games running natively at 1080p, it was readily apparent to me.

As uninspiring as my demo was visually, it's also important to remember that we are still months away from Battlefield 4's release. It's clearly a work in progress. And most importantly, the game itself is still very much a blast to play. But if today's demonstration is any indication, DICE's commitment to supporting 64-player games and maintaining a solid 60 FPS on next-gen consoles could very well come at the cost of visual fidelity, and as a franchise renowned for its state-of-the-art graphics, it's an unexpected compromise.

Author's note: The article has been updated with added clarification that the assessment was as compared to other titles running on next-gen hardware, not just PC.

#241444 fighting game community makes Nicalis drop 3DS game to develop it for Vita

Posted by Julio93 on 25 August 2013 - 11:52 AM in General Gaming

What an excellent move, forget the 30+ Million 3DS owners lets port over it to the Vita, sooo gonna sell well, Maximilian goes crazy on the game but jeez, its not gonna reach the same level as Street Fighter, KOF, Killer Instinct, Tekken, hell not even Skullgirls. Maybe about 20k of his subscribers are buying it just to hear him as an announcer. I really don't care about it and I'm a huge fighting game fan. All fighting games are best played on a console, not a handheld.
