Despite the fact that I've unlocked about 50% of all the achievements in Team Fortress 2, I don't like them. Actually I really don't like them. The purpose of playing is to have fun, not try and achieve some random, pointless, task just because the game says you need to.

Nobody tells me what I need to achieve, I do my own thing. And the only reason I've unlocked the Team Fortress 2 achievements is because I got most of them just playing. I wasn't really trying to get any of them.

I don't recall achievements ever being compulsory.

I recall Nintendo stating that they do not like achievements, but I get the feeling that they've changed attitudes since saying that.

Well, the Halo series does need some life brought back into it. Microsoft making you buy a new console in order to play the next Halo game wouldn't be a good idea when the series has grown stale.
Reviving the series with Halo 4 and then shipping the next Halo game after the 360 gets a successor would be a better idea.

Good idea. Makes a lot of sense considering that Halo is dimmed down a lot since Halo 3 and a year or so after Reach.
