My gamestop has 2 deluxes that are for the wait list people. #1 and 2 on the list had not come to pick up when i was in there today. tomorrow #3 and 4 will be called. too bad im #20 on the list.

I think you will get one before Christmas, and maybe even sooner. As other posters have said they are getting some in.
I was number 1 on the wait list, got a call a couple of days before launch. Picked it up Sunday morning at 8:30 am.

cant you connect wii to tv hdmi, then use optical out to your amp? thats what i do. so my ps3 outputs sound via hdmi to tv which sends the audio out theoptical to my 'amp'

That works for me too, except I use optical out to my sound bar. PS 3 slim is hooked up to a larger TV and goes right to my receiver. Still have the original backwards compatible PS 3 which shares the same TV as the WiiU.

I heard walmart layaway is the same thing. If you make the payments but then stop they put back all your stuff and charge you a 15% restock fee. So you dont get refunded all your money.

So game here. IF you put $5 down and dont pick it the system. They keep it as a restocking fee.

Either way i dont like preordering from stores like that. I only deal wil gamestop. Plus the own and workers there know me by name lol. So we all get along and its cool. I walk in and my games are already for me with my name on them.

Just found out the answer. I returned my $5 reservation card and got my $5 back. As far as Walmart goes . . . on the receipt it clearly states "If you cancel your layaway account: - - The items will be returned to inventory - - Your down payment, payments made, and the layaway open fee of $5.00 will be refunded". So, you can cancel your layaway account, assuming that you just opened it to pre order a Wii U, and get all of your money back.

Pre ordering from GameStop was my preference as well but I missed the pre ordering window before they sold out. So, I did the Walmart and Target thing as back ups. I was put on the wait list at GameStop and just got a call 2 days ago saying I could pick up my Wii U Sunday morning at 8:30 am. That's why I returned my Target reservation card and will close my layaway account at Wally World.

I think it varies per store, mine opens 9am on Sunday, but other forum members have stated theirs is at midnight.

I think you are right. The manager at my local GameStop said he wasn't doing a midnight launch because he worked a 65 hour work week . But said he'd be at the store at 8:30 am Sunday even thought they were supposed to open at 9:00 am.
I, had one in the layaway pre order program at WallyWorld but got a call, yesterday, from GameStop because they had one extra WiiU. And since I was the first one on the wait list, the extra 32 gb Wii U would go to me.

So, it's either midnight at WallyWorld or 8:30 am at GameStop.

Haven't seen any Wii U console bonuses but GameStop was offering a silly hat with Scribblenauts Unlimited.

Unless, of course, you're like most people and can't afford new games cause they're saving for the Wii U and its games. :L :coughlikemecough:

OnTopic: Very excited for Sunday. Picked up Scribblenauts Unlimited for the Wii U today, looks to be a great time.

I'm getting Scribblenauts Unlimited too. Got a call from GameStop saying it would be ready for pick up today but I didn't pick it up. I'll get it sometime before Saturday . . . Will be picking up my Wii U at midnight.

Today doesn't count because it's almost over.
I have it pre ordered at 2 places (one was a back up).
But I might go to a store that didn't go pre orders so I can use my $20 off any purchase $200 or more coupon on it.

Rayman Legends is no longer a launch game. It's been delayed until next year.

Oooh, then I can take that one off of my short list. I just, incorrectly, assumed it would be out this year since they had the demo on the Wii U station.

I'm pretty excited because I just got back from my gamestop where I preordered my Wii U and they ARE having a midnight launch. So you might want to check with your stores. I mean I live in West Virginia and mine is.......

After reading the posts here it looks like it's up to each individual store/manager whether or not they will be doing the midnight launch for the Wii U. The GameStops where I live simply said they weren't doing a midnight launch for the Wii U.

Okay, let's see if I have this right. You buy the reservation card for $5. You have 7 days after the release to pick up your Wii U console. You present your reservation card and they give you a $5 gift card which can't be used on the Wii U console purchase.
Now, what happens to the $5 you spent on the reservation card if you choose to not pick up the Wii U console?

Well, just the deluxe set . . . and maybe a couple of cheesy games. I was thinking about ScribbleNauts and that silly Farm game. However, after playing the Rayman demo, I might add that.

Nowhere near me does demo stations, it's stupid, I wanna feel that thing.

I felt the same way. Wanted to wait till I get it in my hands. But, then I went to GameStop and there is was right by the door. I couldn't resist so I stopped to play a little bit of Rayman. I was surprised how light the controller was. Also, because of the size, I was skeptical. It felt good in the hands, and no problem using it with Rayman.

The guy said to just come to the lay away counter at midnight to pick up your console.
