#253168 Does IGN hate Nintendo?

Posted by Coggit on 26 October 2013 - 04:32 AM in Wii U Games and Software

3Dude, on 24 Oct 2013 - 10:53 PM, said:

Uh, online multiplayer with a game like 3dworld, is completely impossible with current internet technology. Why do you think NOONE has ever made an online multiplayer mario calibur platformer, that actually worked?

Its not like a shooter or a racer where the cpu can just predict and prepare what it thinks the player will do, and then if it gets it wrong just update upon next packet, no harm done.

Not according to Nintendo. In fact, Miyamoto said to IGN to Kotaku just yesterday that it was possible, but something they just decided not to do because they wanted to put emphasis on people sitting next to each other and playing games:

#252812 Does IGN hate Nintendo?

Posted by Coggit on 23 October 2013 - 09:34 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Today IGN gave Sonic Lost World a low score of like a 5 or something. Considering how they give games like Halo, COD, and Battlefield insanely high reviews and games like Zombi U a low score, and games like the Wii U version of Rayman a lower score then other ports I have grown to suspect IGN's reviews are either biased or bought out, or the fact they simply hate most Nintendo games. Your thoughts?

Sonic was given bad reviews by many reviewers. IGN weren't the worst. ZombiU isn't THAT good. In fact, the majority of reviews were negative for it. I think the reason it is so overrated is because the launch line up of the Wii U was bad as a whole, so an average game like ZombiU stands out more. I do think GameSpot's score was unacceptable for it though (4/10).

Fact of the matter is that IGN give Nintendo good reviews when they release good games. For example, WWHD was given 9.8/10. In fact, IGN is very generous with Nintendo games a lot of the time (Games like NSMBU was given 9.1/10 by them - and really, it didn't deserve that!).

I do get the feeling that GameSpot hates Nintendo though. 90% of their Nintendo reviews are extremely unfair and given extremely low scores. It actually stands out like a sore thumb. http://www.gamespot....WiiU&score=desc

Equally though, I do find Nintendo behind on the times. Lack of online multiplayer on games like NSMBU/NSLU is just unacceptable in 2013. No other developer would get away with it like Nintendo does - in fact, Rayman was heavily critized for it. Nintendo games might be good quality games - just like games like the original Zelda is! BUT if the original Zelda was released in 2013, despite it being a good game, it would be hammered in reviews for being outdated. And THIS is one of the biggest problems that face Nintendo and they just don't seem to want to tackle it, which is worrying.

#235828 ASDA suspends Wii U stock

Posted by Coggit on 29 July 2013 - 02:09 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Why have they suspended it?

Lack of sales. Waste of shelf space, basically. They'll still be stocking it online.

My local ASDA stopped selling U games about a month ago and my local Tesco stopped selling U games in April.

#227510 Game & wario sold out

Posted by Coggit on 29 June 2013 - 01:31 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Are you sure they are sold out as opposed to just not selling it? My local Game hasn't stocked any new wii U games since MH3. And supermarkets sell the sme 5 launch titles they have since the system launched.

#226585 Blizzard's Hearthstone Wii U

Posted by Coggit on 26 June 2013 - 09:49 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Looks like a lot of fun.  I played Elements a lot a couple years ago.  I wonder if Blizzard would be able to stop themselves from turning this into a strictly cash cow franchise though.  I feel like at some point they'd start charging for single cards etc. and then it would be pay to win and not fun anymore.

Blizzard has never implemented Play to win models before, have they? Sure, they've offered cosmetic items in WoW, but those are irrelevant.

#226550 Isn't the lack of marketing a contributor to poor Wii U sales?

Posted by Coggit on 26 June 2013 - 07:49 PM in Wii U Hardware

Duh, they aren't doing anything, besides Lego City i haven't seen the Wii U on the T.V since. My guess is they are going to wait until all the big games come out then advertise it.

I guess you're in the UK? I saw 1 advert for Lego City when my cousin was watching cartoon network - funnily, completely targeting the wrong audience. The average cartoon network audience can't just go out and buy a U... There is a LOT of 3DS advertising at the moment though - I'm sick of seeing them actually, haha. Oddly though, there is a Monster Hunter advert, but the only mention the 3DS version and ignore the Wii U edition.

#226549 Angry Birds Trilogy Out August 13th on Wii U

Posted by Coggit on 26 June 2013 - 07:47 PM in Wii U Games and Software

$49.99? A dew weeks ago, it was Game of the Week in the UK and the original was given out free. The rest you can buy for under £4 each. lol...

#226546 Blizzard's Hearthstone Wii U

Posted by Coggit on 26 June 2013 - 07:42 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Oh- and don't say it wouldn't happen because nobody thought Diablo 3 would come to the PS3, PS4, and Xbox One.

I'm unsure how much you're aware of Blizzard and Diablo itself, but as an avid WoW player, there has ALWAYS been discussions of Diablo 3 coming to consoles among Blizzard forums. Especially since previous Diablo games have came to home consoles.

#225755 EA is watching Wii U

Posted by Coggit on 24 June 2013 - 10:31 AM in Wii U Games and Software

All this tells me is disney has told them to make it work. The star wars games that's coming out you betta believe is disney is funding they will make sure they are on Nintendo console. Disney went to EA and said make it work because those games won't be skipping Wii U. That's all I see this as.

Kingdom Hearts - a game that would actually sell EXTREMELY well on the Wii U? This has nothing to do with Disney.

#225643 New Super Luigi U

Posted by Coggit on 23 June 2013 - 08:22 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm not sure it was worth $20, but it's fun so far and pretty challenging.

.

Why not? It's lucky they aren't expecting us to pay £40 for it considering it has the same amount of levels as New Super Mario U.

I get the feeling this is the Wii U equivalent of Super Mario: The Lost Levels.

#225590 Why does Japan have better VC games?

Posted by Coggit on 23 June 2013 - 03:52 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Japan also has  A LOT less Wii U games than us (look at their Miiverse - if you think we have it bad at the moment, they have it even worse!). So I guess Nintendo needs to add VC titles to keep people interested.

#225390 Petition topic for wii U games

Posted by Coggit on 22 June 2013 - 05:21 PM in Wii U Games and Software

If Nintendo don't add online multiplayer for Mario 3D world then they are stupid.

#225387 Super Luigi U & Club Nintendo Chance to Win A Pin

Posted by Coggit on 22 June 2013 - 05:12 PM in Wii U Games and Software

we don't get this in the UK

Nintendo tends to neglect Europe a lot in respect to things like this. Our Club Nintendo is a joke compared to the NA and JP clubs. Of course, we've recently had some nice 3DS deals...

#220225 WWE on Wii U?

Posted by Coggit on 12 June 2013 - 07:25 AM in Wii U Games and Software

True. I think WWE has skipped Nintendo in general with their last two games too (WWE 12 and 13).

Nope, WWE have always released their games on the Wii - including '12 and '13.

#220069 Nintendo E3= Disappointing?

Posted by Coggit on 11 June 2013 - 08:53 PM in E3 2013 Archive

So once again, how are these bad games?

I'm not home at the moment, so a quick reply. I'll reply properly later BUTTT, I never once said they were bad games. In fact, I'll bet they'll be good games and I'll be picking up Super Luigi, 3D Mario, SSB, Mario Kart, Pokemon X & Bayonetta. Probably Wind Waker too. I said that there is no originality in their games and that first party exclusives aren't enough to secure the U's success.

#220039 Nintendo E3= Disappointing?

Posted by Coggit on 11 June 2013 - 07:38 PM in E3 2013 Archive

First off, lets start off by saying what some people are thinking -- Nintendo needed more today. I don't know why you are referring to today's event's as yesterday news, maybe some sort of symbolism in there. But I think everyone can agree: Nintendo needed more today.

However, to say Nintendo didn't announce new titles today is rubbish. Mario 3D World was a new title. Sure, as someone who probably doesn't like Mario (just like me), it's not a huge deal. But tons of kids are going to want to play Mario 3D World -- read this post here. On top of that, older Mario fans -- who do exist -- will be happy for it too. Hell, even though I am not a Mario fan, after watcing the video in HD in EShop I kind of want it too. I want to introduce my son, who will be turning 4, to this game and the fact he can play with me is exciting. This game is a lot better then what my ex-wife's fiance shows my son, Call of Duty. But that's a whole other discussion.

Okay - i should of said, Nintendo announced nothing we didn't know wasn't coming (except the Art Acamedy and Donkey Kong). So, lets go over what you've mentioned quickly:

Super Luigi: Same old, same old. Rehash. Offering nothing new except a green costume instead of a red one.

Mario Kart: Again, same old.

Donkey Kong: Looks exactly like the already recently rereleased 3DS version,

Mario 3D word: hello Super Mario 3D Land sequel.

Super Smash Bros: Same old, same old.

Nintendo seems to have forgotten any sort of originality.

and sure, Dues ex etc etc... oh wait, graphically superior versions are coming to the other 2 major consoles. The new Batman - Nintendo will be missing out of some DLC content it has been reported.

Also, I never once said Nintendo didn't have good games - merely good 1st party games are not going to be enough to shift consoles this generation like it was with the Wii.

#219966 Nintendo E3= Disappointing?

Posted by Coggit on 11 June 2013 - 05:56 PM in E3 2013 Archive

I don't understand how anyone can defend Nintendo. It's sheep leading sheep. It's clear from yesterday's E3 Nintendo Direct and the Nintendo Power Hour on GT (which had interviews with Reggie) that the Wii U is a console that doesn't have a plan of action.

Nintendo have promised a great E3. They said they weren't having a conference this year because, and I quote, "It's all about the games". However, it has now become clear that Nintendo didn't have a conference purely because they just didn't have anything to announce. What did we learn in Nintendo's direct yesterday in terms of new games? Art Academy U? Oh whoop-di-do. The lack of 3rd party games is EXTREMELY worrying. Sure, there is no denying that Mario Kart, Zelda etc etc will sell some consoles. Sure, I'd agree. However, the vast difference between this generation and last is that the Wii had a gimmick that children *love*. The Wii U's gimmick (the GamePad) isn't as strong and it isn't as easily and cheaply affordable. So, who is going to buy a £250 console just to play Mario? Not many people, although some will. Besides all that, Nintendo promised great exclusives. For the first time in a very long time, Nintendo was going to be offering good quality games as opposed to the same old below-standard port we've became used to on the Wii and Nintendo just haven't delivered, and it's worrying.

During the GT Nintendo hour with Reggie, the interviewer kept on trying to push Reggie for answers about lack of 3rd party support, and Reggie just avoided the questions and quite frankly, was just talking utter rubbish throughout the entire thing. Like literally. It was hard to watch. Reggie basically implied that people were buying the Wii U just to play Mario/Zelda/Fit U etc etc. He also kept refering to the U as a first party console. It's just worrying. Then they had that surprise announcement! Everyone got excited, with GT thinking a new game was going to be announced, with ONM Chandra thinking a new game was announced, gaming communities were buzzing after the lack-luster Nintendo Direct we received - were they about to prove everyone wrong and show Nintendo was still relevant? What did they announce? Wii Fit Girl for SSB. It annoyed a lot of people, not because of Wii Fit Girl, but because it is now clear Nintendo just don't understand their consumers. The GT announcers got particularly annoyed about it, and went as far as refering to Nintendo as "The little league" trying to fight (and failing) the professionals (Sony/MS).

Frankly, it isn't good enough. Mario Kart 8, Wii Fit and Zelda should of been launch titles. With Wii Fit U now being delayed until WINTER, it is not going to come out over a year after the console was released, same with MK8, same with SSB, same with Zelda.  The issue here is this: by this time, PS4 and Xbox 1 will have been released. How many gamers are going to buy a £250 console, with limited capabilities compared to Sony and MS's consoles? With limited game released? With no 3rd party exclusives? Especially when the PS4 is just £75 more.

This E3, Sony are giving their gamers what they want. They looked at the market and reacted to it. Nintendo, on the other hand, just seem clueless. It's like they have no business plan. I'm worried about the future of the Wii U. After this E3, no one can defend Nintendo anymore. Maybe it is time to be more vocal so that Nintendo will listen. it's worked for Sony fans as we have seen. The problem with Nintendo fans is they bury their heads in the sand and just blindly follow (granted, not all of us do :P!), but maybe it is just time to say enough is enough.  I'm not denying some great games are coming, but it's not enough - especially following the huge hype from Sony. Once Nintendo pushes the people who invested in the U away, they won't get them back - people won't take the same risk twice.

#217289 E3 is getting closer, What are you most excited for?

Posted by Coggit on 07 June 2013 - 11:20 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I can't pick one :(! But Super Smash Bros - it NEEDS to have online connectivity and the ability to find matches online. I haven't played SSB since GameCube so perhaps they did include it in the Wii version, but since Nintendo missed out online abilities with Nintendo Land, I'm worried that they may also miss it out in Smash Bros.

Mario 3D.

Think I may be most excited for Pokémon news though!

#216936 Official E3 Discussion Thread. (Updated with The Times)

Posted by Coggit on 06 June 2013 - 10:08 PM in E3 2013 Archive

I was just thinking how PERFECT a Pokémon Stadium game would be on the U with Miiverse. The possibilities are really epic. I can't imagine we'll see it announced anytime soon (especially with Pokémon Rumble coming soon!) but it would be amazing. I'm also hoping for an achievement system (mainly to show off my ePen0r on Miiverse!).

#208118 EA finally admits it has no new games in development for WiiU

Posted by Coggit on 17 May 2013 - 11:06 AM in Wii U Games and Software

The only reason I tend to downplay the significance of EA is because of the facts, and the facts say that EA's games on Nintendo consoles are rarely in the top 25 best selling games on Nintendo consoles.  They only accounted for about 8 titles in the best selling 100 Wii games, and about 17 of the best selling Gamecube games.  Ubisoft has had far more success on Nintendo consoles over the past two generations, and even though EA is bigger than Ubisoft, they dont pull the same weight on Nintendo consoles.  Would the Wii U be better off with EA than without?  Yea, of course, but the majority of gamers that would have purcahsed a Wii U will still purcahse one regardless of EA's support.

The Wii U is significantly different to the Wii. The Wii had no where near the capabilities to run EA games, so the Wii received pathetically awful attempts at ports (same for pretty much all major releases) so it  makes total sense that EA hasn't mattered on Nintendo in the past. However, now that Nintendo is attempting to compete with Sony and Microsoft, quite frankly, they need EA. Nintendo, in reality, can not really have a successful console to compete without *THE* most successful and the biggest developer of games.

But, let's take aside EA. EA, due to its status as biggest game manufacture, they have a tremendous amount of influence. EA boycotting the U is also detrimental in that other developers are going to begin to think twice before releasing on the U - especially exclusives (as has already happened with Rayman, for example).

#208032 Nintendo Direct 5.17.2013 Recap

Game and Wario looks like the biggest piece of crap ever... you can get 59pence iPod games that look significantly better...

#207931 EA finally admits it has no new games in development for WiiU

Posted by Coggit on 17 May 2013 - 04:40 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Here's why EA won the award for the worst company 2 years straight.

because they don't want to waste further money on a console that isn't shifting enough copies for them to make a viable profit?

Now, I love Nintendo, but this is a disaster for them. In the UK, EA was last years (and the year before that!) biggest game retailer and developer. Nintendo are attempting to change their image from a kiddies console to a viable console to compete against the PS4 and the new Xbox. Not having the support of EA is, quite literally, going to destroy any chance the U has of competing with the other consoles (although Nintendo already missed that ship anyway). I don't play any of EA's long-running game series and I don't plan to, but this is going to cause irreparable damage to the U and Nintendo and because of EA's influence (as the biggest developer of video games in Europe), it is going to make other developers wary about developing on the U.

#187212 Lego City Undercover ?

Posted by Coggit on 28 March 2013 - 04:54 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm loving Lego City so far (just released today in the UK!). My only complaint is loading times... It literally takes 5 minutes just to get into the damn thing. I haven't been annoyed at the Wii U's loading times before, but Lego City really takes it too far for me.

Hope it gets fixed soon :(

#186611 Don't believe the trash. Walking Dead is a good game.

Posted by Coggit on 26 March 2013 - 05:23 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I love it also.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't going to win any awards. But for what it is, it isn't terrible. ZombiU? No. But it still gave me a few cheap frights. I'm actually really really enjoying it.

#186023 Would you like Facebook, Twitter, and Skype on Wii U?

Posted by Coggit on 25 March 2013 - 02:30 AM in General Gaming

We will more than likely see Facebook and/or Twitter integrated into the console eventually. In fact, Nintendo should have seeked to have done this at launch. It is essentially free advertising from everyone who links their console to their social network accounts.
