The E3 of side games. That's what this has become.

I've seen stuff on Twitter saying Nintendo is leaving stuff for the NX, tbh I hope this is true.

That's the only thing I can think of. They talked a lot about transformations so maybe they've realized their mistakes with the Wii u, and instead of spending time making games for it they're transitioning full throttle in to NX.

I'd like to think that's the case because it's the only thing that could possibly excuse this.

#310696 Nintendo gone Mobile/Nintendo NX system

Posted by Azure-Edge on 17 March 2015 - 07:40 PM in General Gaming

I basically agree with everything reviewtechusa said regarding this topic.

I disagree with the mobile part. Nintendo wouldn't go through all this trouble just to use mobile as advertisements.

#310199 Xenoblade Chronicles 3D - Final Game Stable, Steady Frame Rate

Posted by Azure-Edge on 08 March 2015 - 06:20 AM in General Gaming

I'm a web developer and at my current job I sometimes have three virtual machines running depending on what I'm working on (3 apps that live in different places but communicate with each other). *shrug* At any rate, I didn't pay for it. :)

I'm starting to think I'd like to build a PC at home for gaming. Maybe I'll make another thread to ask for advice.

Not to get off topic but if you want to build a pc, look up Austing Evans on YouTube. He has a ton of vids for pc related stuff.

#309906 Tantalus’ Wii U port will be announced soon for this year, studio’s biggest .

Posted by Azure-Edge on 01 March 2015 - 08:25 PM in Wii U Games and Software

My greater concern is that they are apparently porting a Wii U game to the PS4/Xbox One...

Ya see, I'm all for the Wii U getting more games, but losing exclusives?  They'd better not be porting Bayonetta 2 (and btw, that CAN be possible since Sega owns the IP and can publish a port on other systems themselves [obviously outsourcing the port job to a developer like Tantalus] if there is no explicit part of the contract stating that the game will remain Wii U-only indefinitely).

This is much like how Mass Effect, originally published by Microsoft Game Studios, eventually ended up on other platforms through EA buying out Bioware and Bioware owning the IP.

It's probably sonic boom.

#308725 What Wii U Game Of 2015 Are You Most Looking Forward To?

It's a tie between Zelda and Xenoblade.

#314703 Iwata acknowledges the reaction of Ninty's Digital Event

Posted by Azure-Edge on 16 June 2015 - 01:14 PM in E3 2015

It wasn't just the pacing, it was the content.

We have a mainline Starfox that looks like it's just a reimagined Starfox 64 (still awesome) that seems to require gyro controls (fail).

New Fire Emblem (awesome).

Xenoblade Chronicles X release (so painfully far away, but still loved).

Jpop Fire Emblem/Persona/Vocaloid (I honestly don't know what to think about that).

Yoshi Wooly World (it looks cute, we get it)

That's literally it for mainline games. Everything else was a side game or an Amiibo advertisement. Show off Fatal Frame or Devil's Third? You know, games that gamers would actually like. No, we need a lady talking about how she made yarn Yoshis. If this is what Nintendo is being transformed in to then count me out.

#312411 Who are YOU voting for?

Never played a Shantae game, what makes her worth voting for?

She's a belly dancing genie pirate. 'nuff said.

#317343 Thoughts on Linkle

Posted by Azure-Edge on 26 November 2015 - 06:16 PM in General Gaming

Finally getting a female version of link and people still find ways to moan and groan. SJWs were hoping Link in early Zelda U footage was indeed female... which we know is not the case. Now with Linkle coming to Hyrule Warriors those same people are complaining she is too much like Link. LOL. Can't have it both ways.

Speaking for myself, the name I don't mind and the design from the early art has greatly been greatly improved. Her move sets look fun and should be a great addition to HW Legends and HW on Wii U.

Fixed for you. I really question if we needed 'Linkle' in the first place. Regardless I really like her art design. The green hood and crossbow gives her a nice ranger/hunter motif and I'm glad they made her unique and didn't just cut off Link's ;).

#313563 Considering Hard Drives for my Wii U.

Posted by Azure-Edge on 31 May 2015 - 07:30 AM in Wii U Hardware

I don't se why not, but a cheap flash may be slower and 64gb doesnt last long.

It'll be enough for me. All I'm downloading is dlc and indie/virtual console titles. Even if each one of those was a gb I'd still get around 60 titles which is more than I'll ever buy.

#313560 Considering Hard Drives for my Wii U.

Heu guugguys, I was just wondering, can the Wii U use a 64gb flash drive? I don't need a whole tb and would rather not have to have another power supply.

#317630 What do you want the NX to be or what do you think it will be?

Posted by Azure-Edge on 13 January 2016 - 08:35 PM in Wii U Hardware

Why are you throwing x86 into there?

Because that's the industry's standard architecture.

#317627 What do you want the NX to be or what do you think it will be?

Posted by Azure-Edge on 13 January 2016 - 06:29 PM in Wii U Hardware

Based on what we know/rumors here is my ideal of what the NX NEEDS to be. Based on the name and the rumors, it seems likely we'll see a 'hybrid' console. My idea is that Nintnedo needs to satisfy both western demographics who want a powerful console that can entice 3rd parties as well as the Japanese market where handhelds are dwindling but still too big of a market to drop. One of Nintendo's biggest problems has been them having to split their development across handhelds and consoles; it stretches them thin and forces them to put out different versions of games. So what's the answer?

The NX is a multi-SKU platform that is 100% cross compatible. Same OS, same X86 architecture, same account. Here's the breakdown.

First you have the main SKU which is a normal console. Step ahead in hardware compared to the PS4, normal controller, DVD/Blu-ray playback, 1TB hard drive, achievement system, modern online infrastructure, etc. X86 architecture means that 3rd parties have no reason to stay away since the cost or porting would be minimal. Nintendo continues to release their amazing first party IPs. It's the system western audiences want.

Here's where the new comes in. All games released on the handheld can be downloaded and played on the console. That way their console has the most robust library possible and the handheld can't cannibalize console sales. For people who love physical, it has a cartridge slot for handheld cartridges. They sale the handheld games for $40 as usual and 30$ on the eshop. That way western gamers feel they're getting a good deal when they buy the next over the top Zelda, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, 2D Metroid, etc. and people who love physical still have their option they can pay for.

The next SKU is the handheld. It's basically a next gen handheld GBA with the same control setup as the console with the same OS simply scaled down. It can play the 'handheld' titles that would be your typical 3DS fair. Fire Emblem, Pokémon, 2D Mario, Monster Hunter, JRPGs, indies, VC, etc. to satisfy the Japanese demographic. If you have the console though you can stream the console games to the handheld via wifi, meaning Nintendo never having to do two versions of their AAA titles (3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash), basically all the games we got two versions of this gen that potentially stole console sales.

The final SKU is a bundle of the first two at a discount.

With this model Nintendo could focus on their home console while maintaining their handheld demographic but never competing against it.

#309893 Top five games of the last (7th) generation

Posted by Azure-Edge on 01 March 2015 - 01:10 PM in General Gaming

Hard to actually give definitive ranks but these would probably be the 5 in no specific order.

Demons Souls- Awesome new IP, great atmosphere, challenging but fair whereas Dark Souls just feels like it's trying to screw you.

Biosock- Probably the best NEW ip of the generation. There have been so many shooters this last gen trying to fight for the CoD market, but Bioshock instead did it's own thing and it excelled.

Xenoblade- Best jrpg of last gen on consoles. Period.

Skyward Sword- Great origin story for Zelda and awesome art.

Mario Galaxy 1/2- The Mario 3 of 3D Mario games.
