Apple have announced their second generation iPad. The main differences from it's predecessor, are the inclusion of Facetime, and a gyroscope. It's also going to be available in white, although they said the same about iPhone 4 and I still haven't seen one for sale. Anyway, here's a picture of both the black and white models from engadget.

Why do they even bother it's like Nintendo with the DS-i and ds-i xl (not including the 3ds) they add a few features which don't have much change and try to sell it as a higher price then they also offer different colors to try get people to buy it as well one word for this pointless

No really, a lot of companies do that. It's just a facet of capitalist marketing which is the source of all of today's evil.

I honestly don't see any difference in the two except one's slightly smaller and i don't see what amazing thing they could put into it to make people want to buy it. In my opinion keep your money if you currently have one or if you don't and are looking an ipad then get the newer version

I got to try out the 2 when i last went to the Apple Store. The only changes i could see were the camera and it has this thing called the SmartCover, which is supposed to save battery life or something like that.

I also don't see much difference between the new and old iPads. If I was going to get one, I would choose the older version, as I wouldn't pay that much extra just for a camera and gyroscope.

The original actually already has a gyroscope!!!! The camera is the only new feature.

I'm pretty sure it didn't. Apple first introduced gyroscopes to their products with the iPhone 4, which was announced a few months after the iPad.

Wait... If iPods didn't have gyroscopes until the 4th generation of iPhone, how does my 1st generation touch tell up from down??? Unless my brain was the one who turned and stretched those webpages sideways, I'm certain that there was some sort of gyro in the old ones :/

That's that accelerometer. To be honest, I'm not sure what the difference between accelerometer and gyroscopes are though.

Err... Aren't accelerometers used for determining acceleration...

OooooH, ok. I think they do the same thing in different ways. Don't ask me how, though... I've only taken grade 11 physics :s
