I personally dont think be a big gap in versions between ps4/ps3/360 and wii u i saw videos of this game for ps3 about a year ago so i think you find that be more upscaled for the ps4 as when ive looked at videos of ps4/ps3 versions was hard tell difference butmay be different story when playing on your own tele.

A PS4 port? Wouldn't it make more sense to port from the PC and scale everything to take advantage of that console?

That's exactly what I was thinking. It makes more sense to be a PC port then ported to slower systems.

You DIDNT see videos of THIS game for PS3. All we saw, even on PS4 conference, was PC gameplay footage, nothing else! There will be a big difference in LOD between PC and PS360.

Funny how everyone else is saying that the PC & PS4 are being worked on by one set of developers & programmers & the WiiU, PS3 & X360 are being worked on by another set of developers & programmers.

Wouldn't it make sense to split development up between PPC code and x86 code? As far as porting, all of the next gen systems will use the PC assets/textures/FX etc. Once they are finished with the Wii U version they will have to port that to PS360.

The PPC architecture of Wii U is big problem for next gen development, more than actual system power. PC, PS4 and Xbox 8 will run essentially the same code, but for the Wii U most of the code is different! It will be expensive to port games for Wii U.

We can safely say that PS360 will be getting dubbed down Wii U version off Watch Dogs.

The good thing is that all of the console devs have over 7 years experience developing for PPC. At least they won't have to waste money creating different assets for their Nintendo offerings. I'm sure that was a big reason behind the lack of effort in porting over AAA rated games.

Same here, I don't know why so many expected an up port from 360. It would make much more sense to build Wii U first, with PC assets, then downport that to 360 and PS3, though considering both of those consoles are CPU centric, I doubt those versions will be great.

They expected it because the Wii U sucks right? (sarcasm)

Yep. PPC is usually better though.

The wii u code will be different, but the power based architecture in the wii u and the jaguar cores in the other systems share design philosophies. Basically, it seems like standard coding practices will be the order of the day this gen, run through compilers for the differing architectures. Same assets used, Etc.

Once in a while, we will see code written from the ground up for specific hardware. But most third parties won't be the ones doing that. They'll be running engines complied for the different architectures. There will be a cost. But it shouldn't be prohibitive at all. In fact, most of the money is in asset creation. Once you have created the assets, you let the code bring them to life. No need to go and create the assets all over again for another system. Thus, no need for exorbitant expense. It takes a long time and it takes talented artists to create them. From modelers to texture artists, to lighting guys, etc. . Much more so than the coding. Especially when the engine your using is already built. you do pay your programmers quite a bit. But the assets are what takes the resources nowadays. It's not two programmers and one guy creating tiny textures that repeat over and over. It's amazing artists, creating these amazing digital works of art. The modelers are the sculptors and then there are the painters. You need plenty of them to do it well.

But due to similar fundamental design philosophies in the CPUs and gpus, it's not this crazy ordeal to get your code from one to the other.

Sony must be so happy to be rid of the thorn in their side called "cell."

Ubisoft have stated that they have run Watch Dogs on the Wii U, and it sounds like they are starting development with the "next gen" consoles. However, Ubisoft never said what the Wii U is considered in their opinion, next gen or current gen. Now those fears are put to rest because Ubisoft has said that they haven't started developing the PS3 or 360 version. Therefore, the only logical conclusion since the Wii U one is under development is that the Wii U version is a port of the PS4 version.

they actually did at 2012 E3... The black girl, remember? She was so cute, jump at 22:00.

It's good news, but of no real importance. As we are actually getting the game, fingers crossed it's good.
