What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left

It prefer Iwata retire's, I think we need slightly a younger person to take charge of Nintendo maybe give a new, younger perspective on videogames. But I'd be sad if Miyamoto retires because he's imagination and sense of fun is unparalleled. Whoever takes over from him I'm sure he'll hand pick, and I trust him

Prepare for nintendo to turn into a FPS games only company
Not really. Nintendo know what makes money for them. Yes it's a possibility that with some new blood a new FPS IP MAY come on the system. But they'll never stop making their popular first party titles.

I was just joking, but still I can't imagine what nintendo games will look like from now on without miyamoto, the same, better, or worse.

Odds are they'll be all three in some way or another. Also depends a lot on your own personal taste in this regard.

I feel like the gaming world would just be bland without Miyamoto, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be gaming in the first place!
Hi, my name is Alph. I live on a planet named Koppai. I am famous for saving my planet from starvation. My best friends are Brittany and Captain Olimar, NOT Captain Charlie. I like surfing the KopNet and playing Kopetball.

Does any one know who would mostly likely replace him?

I think only he knows who will be picked. I'm sure whoever it is will be a perfect fit. I look forward to the next generation of minds at Nintendo.

He isn't retiring soon.
Just being wise about the fact he is turning 61.
here is a summary based on His own quoted in that article.
“This year I’m past 60; I’m going to be turning 61 this year. So for me to not be thinking about retirement would be strange,” Miyamoto said to GameSpot. “But in fact, the number of projects I’m involved in–and the volume of my work–hasn’t changed at all.”
“And this actually has nothing to do with any kind of retirement planning or anything of that sort..."
He is just trying to groom the younger guys to be leaders and move the company on right now, so that when he is gone, it will be a natural next step.
And that kind of forward thinking is just one of the reasons Nintendo has been so successful for such an amazingly long time.

He only said that he is preparing to retire, plus he has a lot of projects on at the moment, he could still be around for a long time.

i dont see him retireing anytime too soon. i like how hes trying to get the younger staff to start to be more independent. this could lead to some really good games.

He'll probably make games from the afterlife and send them from there.

I have a bad feeling that even if he's training new younger people...I just feel that Nintendo will cripple under the pressure of the other companies. Shigeru Miyamoto IMO is the only thing holding the company together right now and the minute he leaves....Nintendo will descend into Chaos. I see Iwata stepping down first after that, then Reggie...
Then Bill Trinen will become CEO
Miyamoto has already been offloading for a long time.
He is simply making it more of a focus.
Nintendo isn't going anywhere.
And if anything, the younger guys will be the ones saying, "enough with sony having better hardware, if even by only so much. Let's kill them!" LOL
And they can do it too.

So I take it you don't want Bill to be CEO?
