I have the basic because Gamestop screwed me over on my deluxe. At least I still got a Wii U but thats still unexcusable.

deluxe made the most sense at the time if i had paid for the game that i got bundled with my console the basic would have cost the same.

Deluxe for me, made the most sense. I was already getting Nintendo Land, so the $350 price already cut off $10 from the price. Plus the addition of 32GB, the Deluxe Digital Promotion, and extra stands were all worth it for me.

Didn't basically everyone get the deluxe? That was my opinion on the situation, anyway.

It seems like most of the people here did, but at the same time, I'm guessing we would probably be considered a pretty "hardcore" demographic.

 

I think the people who got the basic either:

 

1) Didn't care about Nintendo Land, the additional HD space, or the Gamepad stand.

 

2) Couldn't find a deluxe model but still wanted to get a Wii U.

 

3) Just like white better.

The one reason I didn't get white was because of the memory... but the OTHER reason was because I saw in an E3 vid, that the thumb sticks can get REALLY yellow REALLY quick!

Basic. Aside from the color, nothing really enticed me to get a deluxe. Nintendo Land isn't that good of a game, in my opinion. (My sister has it, so I got to play it.) The space is a joke, 32 GB (technically less) is virtually nothing. The stands are useless to me. (My sister gave me hers and I never use them.) Anyway, I used that extra $50 and bought myself an external hard drive. Best decision I could've made.

The only thing I probably missed out on was the digital promotion. But oh well, it's not like that was exciting to me either.

Nintendo should just eliminate the Basic model later this year, and lower the price of the Deluxe to $299.  There is cost savings by not having two different models, and then retailers only need to stock one model, and its obviously the more popular model.  The 32 GB of space is pretty good for digital games.  People who want to download full retail games can buy a 500 GB hard drive for $60, and in another year or so, that will probably be true for 1 TB hard drives.

It's really hard to explain but it was actually good Nintendo made two class of console as people may not have as much money or are still on the fence from the Wii problem. To be honest Nintendo may have to release a 1TB or 500GB to complete with the rumored memory of PS4/Xbox3 thus making the Basic Level 1, the Deluxe Level/Zombie U pack/Monster Hunter pack Level 2 and the Next Godmode set Level 3.
