I think having the ability to add a YouTube video to your profile would be a good idea. With the option to turn off auto-play, of course. I have to admit the current profile customization options are severely limited. I mean, a background image and that's it? Come on.

Nollog's solution is pretty much what you can try. You can embed flash into your profiles (like youtube videos) and even offsite mp3s with media tags.
I personally don't like music that autoplays, but you can make it autoplay with HTML.
It would look a little something like this:
<embed src="" autostart=true repeat=true loop=true> </embed>
But with media tags, you don't really have to know any HTML and the visitor has the choice to play the music or not.
