I can't imagine why there wouldn't be. You can go from 3rd to 4th to 5th. If they stopped there a lot of people would be really angry. There will probably also have the "you have to play the previous gen to acquire these Pokemon" type thing.

I think it could transfer like how you could do the files from BW to BW2. That would be a nice way to do it

Gen 2: Time Capsule

Gen 4: Pal Park

Gen 5: Poketransfer Lab

 

All of which are only available after completing the main story, it would kill all the fun in the new games if you could trade out the box with with older Gens.

You could do that since 2006 with DP. Transferring your older Pokemon once them main story is beat is nothing new

Oh... My bad i thought you referring to being able to transfer older Pokemon at the start  of the game

 

EDIT: Gen 2 did cross-gen transferring first btw.

Meh, most likely the new Pokémon will be crap. However, I do want to know more about the game itself. Online/Streetpass/Spotpass functionalities and stuff like that.

Also I'm pretty curious how the final evolutions of the starters will look like, I saw some pretty cool fan-mades so there is potential for sure.

I'm sorry, but did you see the new Eeveelution? It's pretty horrible. The legendaries are kick-ass tho. They usually are.

Serebii.net shows scans of the new upcoming movie with Genesect and Mewtwo. The scan shows that Mewtwo may be getting a new form. Because it needed one? ¯\(°_o)/¯
