Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was revealed to have a sequel today in the Nintendo Direct for the Nintendo 3DS. Many people have speculated a remake of the original game for the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U because it is Shigeru Miyamoto’s favourite game in the Zelda series. I was surprised when it was revealed to have a sequel for the Nintendo 3DS.
What does this mean for the Zelda series on the Wii U? Well, Nintendo already confirmed that they were developing a new Zelda games for each system as well as developing a remake from the Zelda series on each system. With Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker HD confirmed for the Wii U, that leaves the new Zelda game slot open for the Wii U. With Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2 revealed for the Nintendo 3DS, that means that the original may not be remade for the Nintendo 3DS. This means it is possible that Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask may be remade for the Nintendo 3DS.
As for the Wii U, it might mean the new Zelda game may be a sequel as well. Of course this is all speculation, but at the present time, it does look rather convincing we may receive Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask for the Nintendo 3DS. Perhaps Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2 will arrive on the Wii U as well? What Zelda game would you like to have a sequel to on the Wii U?
