Here's hoping the next one runs a wii u worthy engine.

It says the name of the engine on the gamebox.

It looks like a wii game, because you dont use a games engine to create art assets, you use it to run games. And its not a wii u game, its a 3ds game.

Art assets are created in 3d modeling programs like maya and 3dstudio max, and textures in programs like photoshop and zbrush.

You can export them to any game engine you want.

They simply took the same assets they used in tri (and from p3rd on psp, actually, mostly p3rd except monster models) and used them with the mtframework engine on 3ds instead of the old proprietary mh engine, adding things the wii couldnt handle like normal mapping, real time shadowing, and better lighting, and forgetting to remove things from p3rd like the hilariously out of place transparant polygon circle for torchlight.

it was a 3ds game.

and mtframework is the engine resident evil 5,6, and reveleations use.

Its the engine lost planet 1 and 2 uses.

Its the engine dragons dogma uses.

its the engine marvel vs capcom 3 uses, and...

Its now the engine used for mainline monster hunter, whose current home is the 3ds (not wii u, its not a wii u game).

I think they just straight-out yanked the 3DS models and called it a day; I've seen better looking Dreamcast games.

No, you havent. Dreamcast has nothing that can match the first ps2 monster hunter. And dreamcast is nowhere near powerful enough to even run the 3ds games engine.

But they didnt even rip 3ds models, its the 3ds game, its just running on wii u.
