I currently have the TB N11 and I hate them. I know that the Afterglow's are compatible but I was not impressed by them at all and I did get my Turtle Beach x12's to work but those are worse than the Afterglow ones. Looking for something along the lines of my Turtle Beach x41's. No price range....just need a good set with a working mic :/

Hm, Well, I'm not sure if it is compatible with the wii u, but i have a Triton headset, Mic and headphones, and it works really well, had it over 2 years and no problems.

Depends what you are looking for. The Wii U right now only has the Tritton (although I could be wrong), and most headsets don't have compatibility with the Wii U.

My friend has them and they really aren't that great. My main complaint is that you can't hear yourself talk.... so I was either talking too low or too loud 
But I might just have to end up getting the Prismatic one as they are the only decent working pair that I know of.

I use the Sony Pulse Elite headset. It's technically for PS3 but it is compatible with Wii U and works great. Not too expensive, either, for a wireless 7.1 surround headset.
