Well, Nintendo has answered as to why they won't release the demos to the eShop:

.Earlier this month, Nintendo announced that it has plans to release E3 demos in select Best Buy stores across North America. Because fewer than 10 percent of Best Buy locations will be offering the demos during E3 week, not everyone will get a chance to play the unreleased games… so why won’t the demos come to the Nintendo eShop, for all Wii U owners to experience? Well, according to Nintendo World Report, the reason is because E3 demos don’t always function properly, and no one wants to show off a game that can break, which would probably leave a bad impression on players and viewers alike.

Awwwww, that's a shame, I suppose I can understand why though, I suppose it wouldn't be in my interest or Nintendo's to have me or anyone else play a broken demo :( nevermind, videos from the show floor will have to do.

Bingo! The goal will be to get traffic around the demo stations, and then build interest. I would not doubt there is a further relationship with Best Buy that we will see continue in the near future.

It is really brilliant-the interest around the Wii U is displayed before the competition even has demo stations out. People see this, and even try out systems. Best Buy gets an increase in traffic, Nintendo gets a potentially huge increase in sales/mindshare.

I think the whole thing is brilliantly done. I am fortunate enough to have a station about 30 minutes away from may house. I am going to try to go on the weekday and check it out. Ah dang, I keep forgetting school will be out. I guess waiting in line will be unavoidable.

That's one of the reasons Nintendo have a rep in each store, just in case the demo crashes.

Word of mouth.

HEY FRIEND COME OVER AND PLAY THIS NEW MARIO KART DEMO

FRIEND IS HAPPY AND SAYS OH MY GOSH GOLLY GOSHKINS I WANT A WII U NOW TO BUY THAT GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT

And all demo's can be buggy, this is just a cop-out.

While this is probably a large factor, considering that at Best Buy, most players will only play the demo once, whereas at home they would play it repeatedly, which would probably make the flaws apparent. I think I know another reason why Nintendo is trying to put them in Best Buy instead of on your Wii U.

We all have the Wii U. We own it, and we will most likely buy Smash Bros, Mario, etc. However, Nintendo has to market to the people who don't know what the system is, or people who are on the fence about buying it.

Fair enough. It's a little disappointing but hey, I was gonna buy them with or without a demo anyway and I can still watch the demos online. c:

What a poor excuse. Demos can always be glitchy.

These issues easily could be worked out, Nintendo just wants to get consumers to purchase more units. We'll probably get the demos eventually.
