I bought my son donkey kong country that's for the wii but he is playing it on his wii u.my question is can he use the Wii u game pad as the remote so we can play 2 player.if so how do I go about doing this ?

No, you can not. You can only use original wii accessories to play wii games on the wii u. Donkey Kong Country Returns can be played using either the wii remote, or the wii remote + nun chuck.

Nope. Wii games are only compatible with wii controllers.

No, wii games cannot use the gamepad.
You can use another wii remote to play 2 player.
