So within the last month or so, I visited my local Best Buy 3 times for some games and game guides.

All 3 times, the game guides would not ring up in the system. It showed up as item not for sale. It took 10 minutes the 1st time for them to ring one of the game guides in, I am not sure what they did for a work around.

My 2nd visit, the same thing occurred but it took them even longer even with a manager helping, checking sku's, trying to scan a similar item and change price... nothing would work. I was short on time and gave up, left to visit Toys R Us and purchased the same guide there.

Last night was my 3rd visit, picking up Epic Mickey Two Collectors Edition Guide. It wouldn't scan. They tried a few different sku's, had to managers over and a supervisor trying to figure out how to get it rung up. It was a bit busy, so after 10 minutes of them racking their brains, they found a sku for the original guide for the first game. It was $19.99 and they gave me the Collectors Edition at that price. Initially they tried changing the price and their system wouldn't let them. They apologized and I walked out happy nonetheless.

This problem isn't limited to Nintendo game guides, since Epic Mickey 2 is multiplat and the managers even tried ringing in the World of Warcraft guide, which didn't ring up either.

Anyone else have this happen? If not, I suggest heading to your local best buy and seeing what happens. You may walk out with a great deal.

I hardly buy game guides anymore, but if I decide to buy one soon I will try Best Buy. Thanks for the tip.

Many people still buy game guides. They aren't redundant, lots of people like them for the cover, artwork, and easy access for info right in front of them instead of going on the internet. That is like saying getting a collector's edition of a game is stupid because the extras are useless to the game. It's just what people like.

Special thanks to Horchata. I appreciate it so much.

Pretty ignorant to think people just buy game guides for secrets. I buy them partly because I like collecting game related materials, especially of my favorite games.
