Just ordered a game called Banjo-Kazooie for my N64 today, I have played, like, five minutes of the game on an emulator and I'm keen to play it on my N64. It costed me about 15 dollar. It was developed by Rareware, and most of my game experiences with rare games have been good so I'm really keen to play it. I've heard it's pretty much a copy of Super Mario 64. Anyone played it? What were your opinions on the game?

I've played it, and quite honestly, it's probably my favorite game series on the N64. (Although they totally screwed up the 3rd one, but I digress.) It's probably one of the few games I actually want to go back and play though again after I buy it, it's just really good gameplay, and the dialogue is funny at times.

It was that time when Rare was good...
But Banjo-Kazooie is on my top 10 video game of all time. It's so damn good!

Ahh, Banjo-Kazooie, I have so many good memories of that game. If only Rare didn't suck now...

Yeah, Microsoft screwed up Rare.

This is an awesome game! It along with Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time and Banjo Tooie was what made my childhood (most would still consider me a child but who cares) I posted this a while pack on another thread but it seems fitting here also :
Banjo Kazooie and Tooie are among my favourite games of all time!
Have you played Nuts and bolts an if so did you enjoy it? I personally didn't, the lack of the old characters and the humour just wasn't what it was in the older games although maybe I'm just wearing nostalgia goggles.

Banjo's humour is amazing and some of the later levels haven't been matched in my humble opinion.

Yeah, I've played Nuts & Bolts, it's the only Banjo-Kazooie game I have played. It was decent in my opinion.

Well, Nuts & Bolts wasn't a bad game...but it was really subpar compared to the other games in the series.

Agreed, the way I like to look at it is if you separated Nuts and bolts from the rest of the games, it's a good game but when you look at the rest of the franchise it seems terrible. I miss the old Banjo humour.

I guess you could see it as a spin-off game.

I suppose, although Banjo Pilot and Banjo Kazooie : Grunty's revenge are the only true spin off games in my eyes (I've played them all >;) )

Oh yeah, I also have Banjo-Pilot for my GBA. B-P was pretty bad.

You think so? I always had great fun playing it on long journeys, then again I was about 8 and I'm probably wearing nostalgia goggles.

I just thought it had bad controls and was kinda rushed, but that's just my opinion.

Well, I haven't played it in about 6 years so I couldn't tell you, all I know is I was obsessed with it as a child.

The game is not bad in itself, if they had made it a new ip the game would have been considered better, but it didn't live up to it's brand.

I thought Grunty's Revenge was actually pretty decent, although it is a spin-off of sorts.

I agree, I loved that game, I played the crap out of that game as a child.

Microsoft probably wouldn't have funded/published a new IP so Rare hid behind the Banjo Kazooie brand and annoyed most of the fans in the process.

I think that if Nintendo bought back Rare...the franchise would be revived. :P

Agreed, then we would all have some more epic in our lives and I would get more sleep at night, we should probably split this off into it's own topic along the lines of "If Nintendo bought Rare again..." I feel it would be rather interesting but it's fine here for the time being.
