Like object Pokemon , every generation has an electric Pokemon based on a rodent.

Gen 1 had205px-025Pikachu.png190px-026Raichu.png

Gen 2 had 150px-172Pichu.png

Gen 3 had 130px-311Plusle.png130px-312Minun.png

Gen 4 had 150px-417Pachirisu.png

Gen 5 had220px-587Emolga.png

Seeing how X and Y are continuing the cycle of object/food based Pokemon, do you think we'll get another Pikachu lookalike?

Are these things from Gen 3,4 and 5 even evolved forms of Pikachu? I knew only about Raichu and Pichu...

no, just things that look like pikachu and have the same type.

To te question, yes, I think we will get a clone of pikachu in the new games.

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

Isn't Pikachu catch-able in XY? Seems like he is since he's been showcased so much. They probably won't.

Pikachu is catch-able in other games, so why didn't that stop them from making a pikachu clone?

Yep. Pokemon needs to employ the power of kawaii-desu every gen to ensure they snag the proper number of little girls... and boys.

They could probably survive off the current fans for quite a while I admit, but more new fans does directly correspond with more purchases and bigger profits.
