let's be honest, most of us were wii users last gen. the wiimote was so bad that the gamepad seems like the second coming in comparison.

I'm guessing that by the 2 games thing, one of them was The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, but what was the other one? I'd like to know so I can possibly add it to my collection :P

The other one was Red Steel 2. It used Wii Motion Plus for sword and gunplay.

The battery life of the gamepad is awful. I've never had to charge a controller as much as this. Ill be picking up a bigger battery as soon as they offer one.

I also find mine to be a bit creaky. Does anyone else find this?

Ah, Red Steel 2... I've played no. 1 and it was utterly terrible, to be honest. Didn't really think 2 would be much better.

Wow, that does look a lot better, especially the graphics (it's a bit hard to judge if the gameplay is better, but it looks a lot better).

Red Steel 2 is different in everything but name. The graphics are a lot better, as stylized graphics are better suited for the Wii, the aiming is more precise (if you point off-screen in games that rely on the sensor bar, it will lose the focus. WM+ avoids this), and the sword fighting is fun. There isn't any multiplayer however, and there isn't a lot to come back to once you beat it except for your upgrades being available from the start. I'd still recommend it because you can get it cheap now.

Yes, the stylised graphics work a lot better on the Wii. The aiming on Red Steel 1 was a pain. The only reason I played it was because the multiplayer is hectic (mainly because you can't stop spinning).

The Wii U Gamepad is one of the most comfortable controllers I have ever used, I like everything about it.

THERE IS NO RED STEEL 1!!!!

Yes, the game I was referring to was rs2. Made by a COMPLETELY different team.

This ones the real deal, everything the advertisements made you think rs1 was going to do, but lied to you, you can do in rs2, and more. gun, sword, whatever you want, anytime. You can shoot a dude in the foot to stop him, charge your sword and knock him 20 feet in the air, fill him full of holes in slo mo, launch up to him, unleash a flurry of slashes and then a 360 spin slice hurtling him to the ground with enough force to crack it, and then impale him upon landing to finish him. Yeah once you get to the second stage and get the eagle and buy the stage 2 special techniques, the games combat becomes pure joyous bliss to play. There is literally nothing else like it.

Shame it was given such a tiny budget, i imagine they spent it on pioneering the motion + combat system, leaving levels samey looking and a bit repetitive. Good thing the combat is so addicting. Wish there was a survival mode.

Marrying this games combat with a well designed large scale game world could quite possibly be the best thing that ever existed.

The wii never realized its ability. There were 2 games from the entire library, that were not minigame collections that began to realize the wiimotes potential. And they both came out at the back end of the consoles life.

Anyways, I actually use the gamepad a lot.

I fear this is what will happen with the Wii U.

I just haven't been amazed yet by the GamePad. It's nice but without it the gameplay of my current collection of games wouldn't miss it at all (except Nintendo Land). I just don't have any game where I can say "Man without the GamePad this game would suck, or wouldn't be as fun."

I will give Nintendo credit though because the controller feels so good that I forget I have a giant screen that I don't use in my hands.

That actually sounds... Incredibly awesome.

Too bad Red Steel 1 was so terrible, it probably put many people like me off buying 2.

I enjoy mine.....It's a little bulky but for the most part feels good in the hands. Battery life isn't really a huge issue for me b/c I just kinda pick it up, play about 20-30 minutes then let it recharge, but it probably would be a good idea to get a better battery eventually.....

The gamepad is my interface, my portal, to Games, Internet and TV and i can use it without a tv. It also feels good and natural in your hands, plus you can type & draw with it. And if you want you can also use a wiimote or procontroller.
How can ppl not like it? The ones that don't have a ps or xbo and are just jelous imo.

because its made by nintendo and people just want to lump anything they make recently as a gimmick. the gamepad IMO is the best control i ever played with and most enjoyable. developers are trying to make excuses and make it hard to use. its a controller with a screen. use the off-tv feature and put your huds on the controller... job done!

It's alright.

Nobody really uses it aside from a few developers. It'll be ignored like the 3D effect soon.

I will say that it is quite comfortable to use, and I like how the games that I've tried use it properly. I'm pretty happy with it.

The analog, the rumble pack, the wavebird, .. THE CONTROLLER ITSELF.  Nintendo has led the way, but it's always maligned at first ..

.. until the competition copies it.

Then it's the best thing since sliced bread.
