During the Pokémon Game Show, it was announced that a brand new anime will run to coincide with Pokémon XY. This anime is called Pokémon: The Origin, features Red & Green, is based directly on the games, and is to run from October 2nd. It's currently unclear if this is a special or a series but we'll provide information as soon as we can. The show features Red as he starts his journey and battles his rival Green, and the Gym Leader Brock. Pictures courtesy of Dengeki

Multiple websites are reporting it as a special, some are reporting it as a series.

 

I hope it's an actual series... I'm going to trust Serebii and take it as TBD.

^I'm hoping this turns out to be a series as well, Maybe their expermimenting to see if a show without Ash ketchem will work.

Judging from the animation quality, it's probably a 2 or 3 episode OVA.

Yeah the quality looks way too high to be a continuous series. I'm happy about this but for some reason I don't like how red looks.

I wonder if it becomes a series, he goes on to capture a Legendary pokemon every season...or has to delay his Gym / Elte Four Matches to train his pokemon for 2 weeks lol

They're doing this for Ash can job to Red at the Kalos League. Give another excuse why Ash isn't a Pokemon Master!

I think Ash should eventually become a Pokemon Master, I think he is getting progressively better in each league?

Hehe, didn't notice Blastoise's lack of teeth on those gums in the video. One of the drawbacks to better animation quality, leaving some things stylized looks odd. Good thing turtles don't normally have teeth lol.

I'm just wondering how they're gonna fit the whole story in one episode. Maybe it's an hour long?

I might actually watch this. I watched the TV show up until Diamond and Pearl (which is the only reason why I can recognize Gen 4 Pokemon), so this would be interesting. Maybe after this they will make one for Gen 2 and so on.

Guys why will it be a series? Assuming they won't discontinue the main series, I don't think they can afford 2 series at once. Also it will be a bit repetitive cause we saw something like this before with Ash. Also I don't see why people hate Ash, I personally like him a little. *gets shot for unpopular opinion*.
