A Dutch Nintendo gaming website subtracted points of their reviewscore of Mario Kart 8 for not having 60fps in 3 and 4 player splitscreen (they scored it with a 7.5).

Personally I think the splitscreen modes are really smooth and without hickups. Yet when in conversation with the site admin and reviewer they say it's unforgiving Nintendo did this and that the 30fps really impact the experience.

I just don't experience it that way, yet they are so convinced that I start to doubt myself. How do you guys feel?

BTW Mario Kart Wii is almost the same for solo online/offline and lower fps with 2  or more players.. from IGN in 2008:

Mario Kart Wii FPS Performance:

"solo play = 60fps, online and offline

2 players or more = 30 fps, sometimes goes down to 25 or less"

Where is their review of Mario Kart Wii? Their website probably didn't even exist back then. Noobs.

So the order and co. can get away with 720p 30fps but nintendo can't?

Here is their Mario Kart Wii review... not even a mention about frames per second. Bastards.

http://www.n1ntendo..../mario-kart-wii

Conclusion
Mario Kart Wii has left me with mixed feelings. The little details like the Mii integration and instincts are well developed. The stunts are spectacular and the new items add some additional strategies. It is unfortunate that the frustration level in this Mario Kart is higher than ever. The retro selection is clearly not a "best of Mario Kart" compilation and stands in stark contrast to the spectacular new trail. The online mode is very well developed, but unfortunately at the expense of the Battle option.
8.7
N1-score

In the site poll the majority have rated it 9-9.9.

So buck what the reviewers think, the players obviously love it.

amen. I got it yesterday and I love almost everything about it. The only things that could use improvement are the battle mode and the vehicle parts having more of an effect on the performance rather than most of them changing almost nothing. I think other than that the game is spectacular and I've played it solely with my younger brother and I see no issue with frame rate.

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

So the game runs at 59/60fps online with 12 players and hardly any lag but all of a sudden people play local multiplayer?

If 2 player splitscreen was 30fps then there might be some credibility to this review.

Yup, they even gave Sonic racing a 8.7, so they are judging it as the game that beats Mario Kart 8
