"Wii U owners will be able to use apps that operate on the Wii U itself, such as MLB.TV, and others that run independently on the Wii U’s controller. Given its tablet-like design and 6.2-inch screen, it’s not hard to imagine being able to check email, browse the Web, post to social networks and even get some gaming in"

I'm really happy about this:).

So am I I think that this will be another vantage point for the WiiU over the other next gen counsels. I think that this is war and Nintendo notices it and I think that the next gen may decide dominance so they are stepping it up a notch.

It's ok that I could watch some nba on the tab.... But for me Wii U is all about the games. They better have mind blowing games at launch. PERIOD!

I'm liking what I'm hearing Nintendo keep the good ideas coming. Sounds like their finally ready to step into the future and get serious.

But amongst those thousands of crap games there are some good ones. Imagine if we got Infinity Blade, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope and all that good stuff. I think this could be really great.

Angry birds and Cut the rope aren't very... gamery? They're too casual XD ... oh wait...

Well that's one of the big parts of the Wii U, it offers hardcore experiences like Darksiders 2, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge and Assassin's Creed then it also offers some casual experiences. I'm fine with that as long as it's primarily hardcore.

This is a good thing. This will get more people interested in the system.

Yeah, you've done a great job so far, letting the Metal Heads destroy the palace.

Eh, I'm mixed on this. As much of a good thing that this is, I'm not getting hopeful because of 2 major reasons:
  • Nintendo's online, including the 3DS, has sucked hard compared to others.
  • The quality of the apps. If Nintendo puts a quality cap, then App developers will complain. If not, then the place will be flooded with shovelware

Games that refuse to use Gameplay effectively to do anything are like films that refuse to use cinematography in film to do anything.

I think this is good strategy. The games in the apps store can lure in casual gamers, while the retail games can lean more towards the hardcore.

That's great, I'm all for this. If done correctly, this can top the charts and get people widely interested in the system.

1. All developers say that the Wii U online is very good. (No more friend codes  )
2. Apps are not OWNED by anybody so that means that Nintendo can do whatever they want with the apps

yeah dont worry about it. Its probably being called an appstore to make it more "user friendly". It helps it seem casual and not as daunting as an actual store

This is exactly what Nintendo needs to raise stock and to attract more indie developers.

They better have a mind blowing games at launch.

This is what will happen.
