He's not right tho, Jim is a hack and should not to be trusted. He ruins rather than improve the face of gaming. Sooner his kind are put out, soon you and deluded people who follow his word can realize everyone is out for that money and MS messed up in their presentation tactics. I'm kinda disappointed in you, Grandpa 3Dude.

He is absolutely right, and you are actually agreeing with him.

Oh ok. Just a misunderstanding due to the whole "internet has no tone" thingy.

That and that other thing. What was called again? Oh yeah, windows, the international industry standard. :P

That really isn't true. simply put, that's a western thing, and even then it doesn't apply to all western companies. Yes every company needs and wants as much money as possible, but not eery company is willing to throw their fans under the bus to do it.
A lot of the stuff Nintendo does has not actually caused them to gain any money (ambassador program anybody?) but they do it because simply put they feel bad when they do wrong by their fans. You think Nintendo had to do the ambassador program? No. the 3DS would have been just as successful now if they hadn't done it, and everyone would have forgotten about it. Things like the way Nintendo was having fun at E3 really proves they are different, and approaching the industry with a different attitude. Yeah you can try and pin everything on them hoping it makes them more money but then you're just being cynical to the point you aren't even being realistic anymore, and are purposely ignoring the most obvious answer to the perceived problem. kind of like an atheist...
And that's coming from a strong believer that man is essentially evil.

When you post at the same time as someone else, your post does get posted, but it also stays in the box where you right it, and you can't see it's been posted. He probably pressed post, switched tabs to do something else, came back a little while later, and it looked like it hadn't been posted, so he pressed post and voila. It's happened to me before.

Actually, windows is losing share and relevance.

It is less and less the standard each year. And every new release shows how inept they are. Either a total hack job like vista or such a wannabe attempt at being cool that they drop usability.

Windows and office (also on the slide) keep ms in coin. Not in relevance.

Ms is viewed as a tech dinosaur. And rightly so. The only thing that has an air of freshness, relevence, innovation, and hope, is xbox. And now they want to kill it.

Going to be fun. Gonna grab the popcorn. Prob need to hire yet another CEO in 5 years.

Windows 7 and 8.1+ are generally considered to be pretty good OS's as far as i know.

Windows will be fine. Apple products will are way too expensive and overpriced for the general public to care about.

Except Apple makes more than Microsoft annually.

People are willing to spend thousands if they think it makes them cool. Especially if it flaunts wealth at the same time.

Thought this thread was about ms.

But since you brought it up, apple is only getting bigger, selling more, and is constantly claiming and reclaiming the #1 spot for worlds largest company along with Exxon Mobil. Could purchase ms twice over if they we so inclined. They recently split their stock 7 ways and are only getting bigger. Seems the "general public" has wised up and spends the money on something that is actually engineered and designed well these days.

7 was good. But anything was good after vista. 8 was a ui disaster (though I thought it looked cool) and 8.1 is an exercise in ui fragmentation.

Ok now you're just being ridiculous. PC's are the better choice 99% of the time for 99% of people. None of them should be spending their money with Apple. The only way in which I know Macs to be superior is they don't have the latency issues PCS do.

Even then, you can buy PC's that are specifically built for great response speeds, and then you don't have to give up all your options for DAW's fnd VST's by going the Mac route.

Again... This was about ms. I didn't bring up apple. But since you insist...

Lol. PCs are simply "good enough" for 99% of tasks. Most specific tasks, from video, audio, graphics, web development and design, publication production, etc. are far better with Apple. Everyone is better spending money on apple. And more and more are. It's a growing trend that isn't slowing down. Far less crashing. Better memory management. Better security. It's only a plus. Add to that, you can run windows both natively and virtually on a Mac. But OS X is the superior os. And it's only getting better.

Lol. Market share is calculated dubiously. Go to any college, studio, hospital, or accounting firm these days. Or heck, anywhere there are people with computers. Watch a movie. What will you find? Macs. And iPads. Web browser stats are a truer indicator. Interestingly, for the first time this year, a website that I run is primarily visited by macs running chrome and safari. And no, the website itself has nothing to do with apple. Macs have been growing for years while pc declines. This in spite of the fact that macs last much longer. Add to that the utter dominance of ipad and iPhone (also OS X-now called iOS), and everything I said about windows remains true. Apple has record quarter after record quarter. Ms? Not so much. Apple constantly back and forth with Exxon for worlds richest company. Ms? Not even close. Why? Because computers aren't a mystery anymore. People have wised up and they want something that just works. And the style is a nice bonus.

And now apple has an enterprise partnership with IBM in addition to all the success over the years. Just keeps getting better. Ballmer tried to compete. Failed epically And now he's gone. Nadella recognizes ms doesn't have the culture to play on apples turf, so he is going back to core strengths -which the market has evolved beyond.

When the shepherd is good, the sheep stick around. Lol

Apple has been building the best products for many years. That's why people trust them.

Now is ms would stop being the wolf in sheeps clothing, it might earn similar loyalty.

Bruv.

Bruv pls.

First off, like Ryudo said, your ideas stank of Apple propaganda and outdated information. Mac's aren't actually better for those things. Main thing you need for video editing is RAM. It's a well known fact you pay way more moeny for tha  RAM when you buy with apple. And it's not some magically superior RAM, it's just RAM. Nohing special.

Audio? That's actually what I was talking about in the comment you responded to. Apple computers have good latnecy. That's it. That's all you got over PC's. And there are still PC's that have latency that is just as good or better that;s the same price. It's definitely worth and extra $500 or whatever. And then you give up so much as well. For example.

DAW's optimized for OSX:

Logic Pro

Garage Band (lol that's a joke)

DAW's optimized for Windows:

FL Studio

Cubase

Reason

Ableton Live

Pretty much any other DAW on the face of the planet

Same goes for VST's. Same goes for everything.

I don't know much about web development, but as far as I know, Apple has nothing special.

A specialist task you didn't mention by the way: Gaming. We won't even get into how Macs are a joke for gaming.

And anyway, even if mac was superior for specialist tasks, that still wouldn't mean everyone should be buying one. Most people just mess around on the internet laughing at cat videos and reading e-mails. They're wasting their money.

Also, cool, all those people use macs. You know what else they all share in common? None of them actually need particularly good computers, and many of them have a big focus on trying o be trendy.

Why don't you go into a game dev or 3d movie dev office and tell me what you see? Those are people who actualy need the best computers, and they aren't using macs. And this point doesn't just speak to the professionals look at the people who own Macs. The vast majority are people just trying to stay trendy, who don't want to do any actual research, and would rather just have advertisements tell them they should get it to be cool. Though I should also mention that as was previously stated, you have a large number of old people, who also know nothing about computers, and who have money to burn.

Also people say that Macs last oh so long and PC's suck. No. Sucky PC's don't last long. Get a high end PC, and you'll see it can last you 7-10 years, just like a Mac.

It's funny how you talk about computers no longer being a mystery by the way. That's very true. It's pretty easy to find exactly what each computer runs and how good it is these days. What's even more wonderful about this is there isn't much that's a matter of opinion when it comes down to computer. Most of it is straight up "This is better than this" and Macs are not better than the other computers in their price range. You can look it up if you don't believe me.

Last point: PC's "core strengths" is that they focus on giving you (almost) your money's worth. So if the fact people care more about style than money's worth is evolution, it's doing it backwards.

EDIT: I think you missed the point f that video. The sheep can't even recognize their own shepherd. They also will just do anything they think their shepherd is telling them to do, even if it's go jump off that cliff because it amuses me. They're completely stupid and delusional. But what can you expect from sheep?

I like it when people bring up the style thing as if this is the year 1999 and Windows PC's are still biege desktops. Windows PC's come in all sorts of styles anymore. Apple has it's own look which is fine for those who like that look. I like my Asus G75 looks like a Jet or te batmobile. Not everyone just likes curves and not everyone likes a computer to look like a stealth jet.

Oh and just to be morbid
