While the Amiibo did not win the tournament, it managed to defeat enough opponents to secure third place.Yep, that's pretty awesome. Nintendo has truly surpassed the previous limits on toys, as well as integrating gameplay into the real world. Possibilities for new strides in the game industry seem endless with this kind of technology...

What has Nintendo done... I mean these things can go up to Lvl: 99! I don't doubt that we'll probably see Amiibo banned in more bigger Smash Tourney's.

i saw nintendo tweeters this, and never clicked that link either.

I watched some australians stream it and the fox amiibo got pretty far into their little tournament.
They had two "pro" smash players playing too.

Well the star fox amiibo at least had good taste in controllers.

Just in case you guys didn't know, lvl 50 Amiibos do more damage than an average person or CPU per move, so this isn't as much of an accomplishment as it's made out to be. It also mean Amiibos will probably be banned from playing against humans in tourneys in future. However there's a pretty big push for them to have there own sideshow brackets and maybe even have amiibo+human team brackets since that would presumably balance the damage boost out.

amiibos gets a 50% damage boost at level 50. That alone makes them noticeably harder to defeat than they would be normally. There is also the quality of their 'training' to take into account. Amiibos will probably be banned except for events/side-events based at least partially around them, such as amiibo only tournaments.
