Must we still listen to the works of Beethoven?
Zelda games are similar in nature to a musical or movie masterpiece. It will always make it's way into the hands of a new generation somehow. I'm all in for a handheld Twilight Princess.

They better not, it would basically look exactly the same, thus being a port instead of a remake

The news would coincide with this which we saw back in September. Xenoblade Chronicles, Twilight Princess, Mario Sunshine, Code Name Steam (enhanced). Just a note, the below image may not be all factual regarding specs and games.
If Nintendo wants to push the "new" 3ds aspect, I could see them doing another Zelda exclusive to it and adding in a Mario title too,
I wouldn't mind seeing Sunshine be remade on the 3DS, don't think it would work too well though.
Add me on Wii U if you want to settle it in Smash
