Well, i remember this game as it was yesterday. That unique sensation of getting that big game box packed with a mouse, support and cartridge was incredible. The Box art  was amazing and the game itself was not technically out of this world, but painting Mario Artwork, killing insects and composing music with exotic sounds was epic without precedents, and even now, 2012, some people continue to compose with  Mario Paint.

Imagine if Nintendo create a new Mario Paint for Wii U, with lots os possibilities regarding painting, composing and even more mini "art - cult" games Mario Style. The Wii U controller is just perfect for a game like this.

AS a downloadable game.. maybe. I think it would be better on the 3DS

Like everyone else is saying, I believe it should be a downloadable game as opposed to a full-fledged video game.
I also believe it should be on the 3DS more so rather than the Wii U.

Wii U is more suited for a game like Mario Paint because of it´s large touch screen on the controller and the images/art stuff being displayed on the HD TV.

I can´t really imagine it on 3DS, the touch screen is tiny and the upper screen would not display well large artwork and paintings.

There are a lot of games that lack content. Look at Steel Diver and Pokemon Rumble Blast, even with little content, these 2 are retail games. Home Consoles also suffer from that. So, why Mario Paint should be a downloadable game?

I think that, instead of a copy of what Mario Paint have done, Nintendo could recreate it/reimagine and add more content. Even multiplayer for some new concept. Surely, it would have much more content than a game like Flingsmash, Wii Play or Steel Diver/Pokemon Rumble Blast;

The reason why I'd prefer this on the 3DS is because it seems like a simple game you'd want to play for light entertainment.
The fact that you can take it anywhere with you is also a plus.
