Wii U On Demand (Satellaview for Wii U)

This should be kind of like a downloadable service like Nintendo Video for the 3DS, except instead of videos, it's about games. This can also be applied to the 3DS, in fact, I think they should both be connected somehow (Wireless connection=more content, Wii U games can unlock features in their 3DS counterparts, etc.), but I'll won't go into detail.
Here's what I think the schedule should be:
6:00 AM-7:00 AM: Retro Time (Gives an hour of free play for a specific NES or SNES, such as Super Mario Bros. or Excitebike)
7:00 AM-8:00 AM: Retro Time (Different game, but same thing)
8:00 AM-9:00 AM: Show Time (This can actually be a series or an OVA that can be watched, or it could be, in some cases, a game conference)
9:00 AM-10:00 AM: Original Games (Game that can only be played in Satellaview or bought in the Wii U eShop with $10
10:00 AM-11:00 AM: Original Games (Same thing, different game)
11:00 AM-12:00 PM: Downloadable Content (This lets you get content for a game on the Wii U, or, as I said earlier, on the 3DS)
12:00 PM-1:00 PM: Noon Selection (You can select what you want to play from any of the above things, very helpful if you missed something)
1:00 PM-2:00 PM: Downloadable Content
3:00 PM-4:00 PM: Original Games
4:00 PM-5:00 PM: Demo (Demos for Wii U games, and possibly 3DS)
5:00 PM-6:00 PM: Prime Selection (Same as Noon Selection)
And then it start over, but with different periods (AM turns into PM, etc.) Some names can be changed (Like Noon Selection), but they're the same thing.
The schedule should be posted on Nintendo's site and on the actual service it self, so it'll be far more convievent than Satellaview. Also, I think this should cost around $0-$20, if I look at Nintendo's past.
So, what do you think? Post below for more suggestions.

lol btw the cable-on demand thing is already kindof going on. the wii has hulu plus, and netflix so the wii u will probably have these and more services similar to them. if so then you will be able to watch alot of shows and movies anyway.

this is a sweet idea. although i hope you wouldnt have to pay as much for this service as you did with the snes model satellaview. i would love this addition to wii u though as long as it is built in
Don't worry. I don't think Nintendo will go to that extreme. Remember, those were the early 1990s, when internet just became popular. By now the cost would be drastically less to make.

I don't get the concept or point... Please elaborate I've never used or had things like satellite or cable on demand. Is it suppose to be like the wii shop channel?
No. Let's say you want to play an episodic game called "Mario Time!" Mario Time! airs on Thursdays at 6:00 PM. So if you want to play it, you have to play it on Thursdays at 6:00 PM. Any more questions?
If this is what I think it is then I think it will fail just like it did the first time. :T
Why do you think that? Is it because it cost a lot?
Interesting. So I get to play games according to the schedule for free if I pay a small fee?..... I like it.
That would be cool. I'd watch it more than Television that's for sure.
Thank you!

I've definitely been thinking that it would be interesting if Nintendo's longtime flirtations with online - starting notably with Satellaview - would see some kind of reference in their upcoming new online model with the Nintendo Network, now that they're finally going to be plunging into online features their most seriously yet. The original Satellaview hub has a good bit in common conceptually with elements of the Wii no Ma channel on the Wii and my Miitropolis concept on the hardware board, at any rate, and bringing back some features like this could definitely do a lot to help set Nintendo further apart from the competition, as well as potentially drive their online software sales.
In short, the more they can do to make using their online services on the Wii U and 3DS a part of customers' daily lives - socially and otherwise - the better. And that's been a cited goal of Nintendo's for over five years now, as they've been openly discussing always wanting to give customers reasons to turn on their Nintendo systems every day, with new surprises and things to find. Something like this could be an interesting way to do that. It'd take a fair amount of dedicated resources internally, so I'm not going to hold my breath, personally, but this is definitely a neat idea.

An interesting idea, to be sure. I've been planning on adding some Satellaview related thoughts to my Miitropolis thread over on the hardware board, actually, since Satellaview actually had a very Mother/Earthbound-style 2D city hub area that you'd run around in with a little pre-Mii avatar to access its various features.

Thank you, O Great Ponkatsu! Incorporating Miitopolis into Satellaview isn't a bad idea. Maybe you could go to "Satellaview Plaza". I'll add your idea after school.
