$349.99 seems good to me plus Nintendo's President said "This is not going to be cheap",

but will try to find the best possible price without taking a loss or too much of a loss at the beginning.

this rumor could be good or bad at the same time. if the price is at 299 then the hardware may not be very powerful, and we may be seeing another wii situation again ( lazy devs) lol. Unless that rumor about it being twice as powerful as the xbox 360 which is probably true and they are taking a loss. What you also have to look at is that Microsoft and Sony probably won't make a console in a couple of years. So you don't want the wii u to be too expesive compared to the ps3/xbox 360. so 299 is a great price.

I don't think they are going to compete with the PS3 and 360 when they first launch the Wii U. When Microsoft started the Seventh Generation of consoles they didn't put it in the market to compete with the PS2 and GameCube. $299 is a great price but it is also the same price the PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 started at granted the 360 had different models. I don't know what price they will release the Wii U at, but I'm not to sure they will price it at $299. I'm okay with $349 and $399 as a launch price, who I'm I kidding I will buy it at launch no matter what price they release the Wii U at.

[Edit] The Wii U launch price won't matter if it is $299 if the Wii U doesn't launch with a great line up of launch titles. So any price will be worth getting the Wii U as long as it comes with a great selection of Launch Titles.

I mean seriously if it launched at 349 or 399 thats extra money that they can spend on increasing the capabilities of the system so it can compete with the next generation. Its time for people to realize that the wii u is next gen and doesnt need to compete with ps3 and xbox360

yeh people still seem to think games on ps3 and sometimes 360 are even comparable in terms of graphics to pc gamesthat are at 1080 p which will be a good estimation of how many next gen games will look .. but the truth is , the consoles are sadly underpowered in this day in age and i personally have a 360 , and it is very bland to me , and i have only had it since 2009. It could just be me but ps3 and 360 had a good constant six year cycle of entertainment it's about time the new consoles come out. (even though ps3 exclusive games look pretty good ). I don't like how they are milking their last gen consoles, while nintendo moves on with the Wii U with a headstart in sales.

I totally agree with you though the wii u doesnt need a $299 price point it is just bad news for everyone who has more than 300 bucks to spend . XD But on a serious note the console needs to be atleast $350 with modern components inside to be competitive with next gen consoles, plus when all the consoles are released im sure the wii u will be atleast a little cheaper , which would be a bargain if its performance is on par or very close to the next xbox . ( i am confident if ps4 releases in 2 years from now it will have more power)

You really think a console that is $399 will sell a lot. I won't buy it until the price goes down, I like $299.

But $350 is fine too. I've been saving up and have 300$.

If the Wii U launched at $399 with a bunch of awesome launch titles then I'm definitely going to buy it, but if it launches at $299 and has crappy launch titles than it will end up like the 3DS and Vita and won't sell good at launch.

The only bad thing about titles like Batman Arkham City and the others are being ported to the Wii U. Most companies develop their games for the 360 and just port them to the PS3, so those launch games might not be that better from the 360/PS3 versions. It would be awesome if the Wii U can handle true 1080p were the textures aren't upscaled.
