I thought the square was just a design thing so the D-pad side doesn't look so empty. I mean the screen can be used for NFC so what's the point of having a little square for one?

So the children and casuals know where to place the NFC compatible products on the controller. It only has a range of around half an inch, the last thing you want is kids randomly smashing carp on the controller trying to find where the NFC range is lol.

About the square flat zone, people are talking about NFC area, or touchpad!
I think it could be a kind of sensor, why do you need an id stupid NFC profile Card when you can just use your finger......^^

The square at the left is the NFC area. The square button next to Power, is interesting though.

Again I am in the minority. This is a huge step backwords for me. I will still get the Wii U....But I was looking forward to Circle Pads. I am serverly disappointed in Nintendo on this.

Maybe it's just the older than the old version. Just look at the patent for that one:

They don't look like triggers to me when you look at the patent. They look like the B button on a wii remote.

I have a feeling that square button by the power button is for connecting multiple controllers. Kinda like how you do that with the Wii Mote when you press 1 and 2 at the same time.

Yeah I noticed it too later on. The controller should be smaller imo, but the screen should stay a perfect 6 inch.

Great ! I wanted the analogs instead of sliders anyway so this is good. I still hope they will go with another color instead of just plain ol' white lol
