    Reggie's Body, Nintendo being doomed

Posted 02 June 2012 - 03:51 PM

From Game informer (found on Neogaf)

•Epic talked with hardware manufacturers like Intel,AMD,Nvidia and qualcomm to workout a tech road map.
•the demo GI saw was running on a single Nvidia GeForce GTX 680
•New image based Lens Flare tech, occurs dynamically.
•UE4 capable of producing one million particles at once with no hit to game peformance.
•planning to release UE4 dev kit soon
•Epic wants "to empower game designers,to take charge of as much of the game production process as possible"
•"Next gen will be about alot of things besides just next-gen graphics performance"
•UE4 being designed for a decade that starts with the advent of next gen consoles

Ok with this information what do you think of the possibility of UE4 being on the wiiu . Considering the demo was run on a SIngle GTX 680 (even though its a very powerful card) instead of multiple graphic cards and the fact that chances are the Demo was running maxed on said card so it could get lower I believe Its a sure thing for the Wiiu to run Unreal engine 4 to some capability and maybe even good.

Wii U will have Unreal Engine 4 on it. Thats why it took longer then they planned to get the final dev kit finished.
[E3 2012] Nintendo gets it's throne back.

if rumors are true about 68xx series, then its REALLY strong for a console, I MEAN REALLY STRONG.. so yes it can do it.. Also, if nintendo really interested about UE4, then they also updated the modified card with the extra features.

I feel like Nintendo is trying hard to make the Wii U the best that they can. This being said, I think that the newest dev kits had UE4 running on them.

Get it out of your head bro, Nintendo is not going to use a 6800 equivalent GPU in the Wii U. Think more like a 5000 series which has the power of the 4000 series but with a tesselation unit. Think more like a 5750 in terms of power and performance.

If you nintendo stayed with the original dev kit, you'd be on the right track...

I don't know, but all I can hear in my head is Reggie announcing Unreal Engine 4 support at E3 and the crowd going crazy before he finishes. One can hope.

dev4 and aftrwrds changed gpu and its not a coincidence, after the leak, AMD officially announced that radeon 4xxx and backwards, stopped being supported.

Either ways, there is lots of leaks after that, confirming this info, more like a 6xxx series... NO WAY to use a 5xxx series, as 5xxx series is hot as well and not power efficient.. I KNOW about 5xxx series. Its stupid choice compared to 6xxx series that is much much cooler and less power.

Of course it uses more power and generates more heat, but it's cheaper and Nintendo likes to use old tech to bring down the cost of the console since they think ppl just buy the console for the software. The 6xxx series cards are still expensive. If you expect that kind of GPU power inside the Wii U then you are looking at a $400 plus console.

That's what I've been trying to tell for a long time now. It's not just UE4, it's for every engine. If IDTech5 could run on X360PS3 what makes UE4 not possible on WiiU

Dude you stole my avatar, not cool bro :P

On topic: still doubting UE4 compatibility, but it is not unlikely.

No its not cheaper.. Ok let me tell u what amd does..

They always create 3-4 models for laptops, consoles, etc.. chipstes.. this cards are 5650-6650-7650... 5670-6670-7670... etc... this models for any company who wants to use them, are cheap... VERY cheap.. 5-10 bucks for unit...

NOW.. 68xx series is 1 year OLDER (an upgraded version of 4xxx series) than 69xx series...so 68xx series is 3 years old and allready discontinued... the price is extremely low at this point. And right now 68xx series costs less than 60-80 bucks for the retail.. end license users. for nintendo should cost about 15-30 bucks per unit.. AND IT SOUND NORMAL if they trully want UE4 :)... 6850 is very very cheap and 6870 is about 80 bucks.. (80 euro right now).. But even if nintendo use a 6770 equivalent, is going to be good, dont know about UE4 though...

6800 cards are $150 at retail. Nintendo would be lucky to get that kind of card at $80 per unit.
