Since Pikmin 3 is coming out for Wii U, I am going to get it. But how can you play a game from a series without playing one of its predecessors? So I am going to get either Pikmin or Pikmin 2. Which one do you prefer?

Pikmin 2 has better graphics, less stress inducing gameplay (due to a lack of a time limit which is a good thing), and longer campaign. There are more upgrades than this but I won't go in depth. Pikmin 2 is a really really good game.

If you want a challenge, go with one.

But 2 really expands upon the game and you have time to try and complete it. Plus, it comes with fun challenges. I would have to recommend 2.

It looks like Pikmin 2 is coming out on June 10th for Wii under the "Nintendo Selects" brand. I will probably get that!

I recommend playing both, if you can. I don't see a reason to skip the first or second of the series when there's only two you need to catch up on. I always do everything in order though, so it might just be me...
Gamestop has the first GC one for 10 dollars online used. 20 used for the Wii version. It's not expensive. (Unless it's 5 times the price irl, which I have no idea about.)

I've had Pikmin 2 for the Wii for over 2 years now.

Pikmin 2 because get a friend, play vs mode, amass an army of Pikmin on both sides, kill eachother...

It is much more fun than you'd think actually!

I like Pikmin 2 better but since difficult games are more me I also like Pikmin 1.

If you're a game collector or you want to look like a BOSS, then buy the GameCube version. (But actually I think that Pikmin 2 on GCN is a pretty rare game, sooo... good luck.)
