Thermal paste will be fine so long as you don't move the cpu.The paste isn't for attaching.
Since they're usually jackhammered into the console, you wouldn't be touching it.

I think that it'll be fine, one thing is that Nintendo have like 30 years experience in building consoles/arcade machines (Like the original DK was on an arcade until ported to the nes/famicom. I hope that the Wii U will run allmost silently like the wii because I have to turn my TV up when I'm playing on my Xbox and I like to keep things quiet when gaming because I don't like my parents hearing me play on COD.

The problem with the old ps3 as far as I know is because of the welding between the processor and board, not so much with the thermal paste. All thermal paste will dry up at some point, when it dries up, your processor will become hotter than normal, and the fan will tend to rotate faster (if there is a sensor to detect it). Depending on the processor, a few degrees won't really bust the processor.
so don't worry much about the thermal paste, but worry about the quality of the build. Thermal paste will dry up no matter what brand you use.

Yeah it will dry up... After a few years, bit even so the thermal compound will continue to operate normally, and dried thermal compound shouldnt be replaced.
The fact that the thermal compound used in the 360 actually burnt up is an entirely different issue.

Remember the issue with the early 360 and PS3 models was lead was removed from the solder to comply with environmental measures and meant solder whiskers were created (dendrites or something like that) that shorted out contacts. Lead free solder is much improved now. It is the hot/cold cycle that creates these whiskers but more modern lead free solder is much improved and consoles are starting to run much cooler again at least until the next playstation and xbox arrives. I'm expecting the wii u to be a very reliable robust console. Reliability is something Nintendo get right!

i guess its ok buuuuut

its going to be normal thermal paste you get on every dell laptop you buy, so stop worrying.
(probably need to replace mine on my 7 year old beast machine)
