Dang. I didn't expect it to sell out that fast tbh. I thought there would be more pre-order allocations, since Nintendo knows how big a hit the Wii was (and Nintendo systems during the Christmas season) period, plus it being an almost worldwide release.

Glad I got mine in. :D

Either that or these retailers are being cautious and limiting their preorder stock as they're not totally convinced that it will be a big hit.

Yeah, that can be possible too...that happens at times, especially when items are an hit, they want to be careful not to oversell on items.

It can also be that some places have run out an certain amount of the allocations and they want some on the shelf during Black Friday and release day.

Either way, it is a good thing! Good for those who caught one in time too, and those who haven't pre-ordered yet, I hope you find a store.

This is only going from memory and from a UK perspective but I seem to remember the wii was sold out quickly in the same way for pre-orders as each retailer was only allocated a certain number of consoles initially. Later a second delivery of stock became available and there was a big rush as people tried to get one of those. There was a report I read that there was some wii u manufacturing problems so stock really could be limited. They may not be able to make as many as they need for launch. It looks a trully fantastic console as a package and for me Zombi U and the new Mario game look highly desirable. The thing is if the console is going to be a huge hit you might as well buy at launch because the price won't drop for a long time but if its not a huge hit then its worth waiting for the price drop that will likely happen in the new year.

I hope a large stock still hits retail stores like Walmart and Target for all those who couldn't pre-order.

I'm sure big named stores like Target, Best Buy (known for holding the launch parties *woot woot*, I love the love Nintendo gives NYC), and Walmart will have in store stock enough for 1st (possibly 2nd) day buy. If this keeps going the way it looks to be though, Christmas is going to scare me..

Agreed.

These forums are a refreshing change from most out there.
The lack of vulgarity and personal attacks on this forum set the tone for great discussion and respectful banter.

Let's keep it this way.
