Was wondering if anyone was considering a solid pair of headphones to go with their U. I read somewhere that the gamepads have a headphone jack built into them, so that would make a headphone or headphone/mic combo more easily done. Any ideas on brands or models?

I plan on getting a pair of these once they come out. They are cheap and made by a great company.

I think you can use any kind of headphones that work on Ipods and what not to transfer the sounds of the Wii U gamepad to you.

Did they say if any headset will work? Or is it Wii U only headsets?

There is a headphones jack in the Wii U Gamepad, and there are gaming headsets built for the console as Mr Monopoly said. We do not know though if there will be support for other console headsets, it all depends on how they are plugged in to the console.

Anyone know if it can use blue tooth? I like them better than headsets.

I doubt it will have Bluetooth for headset capabilities.

I'm gonna say the aux jack on the game pad is probably the same jack that the 3ds uses. So it has three wires connected enabling a mic headphone connection in one port. So I bet u could hook up any mic speaker combo

You can use any 4 pole 3.5mm jack headset for sound and voice chat.

For the past years I've always doubted turtle beach, but after going to eurogamer expo this year, I can see why and how they got the MLG license for their equipment.

However only their highend headsets are actually worth purchasing IMO. The NLa,they are great small headsets, good for portable gaming, listening to music etc, but they are just too small to be imeressed into the game. Then you have the N11 which are the X11 rebranded and just aren't good headsets, well for me that is.

The microphone quality is rubbish though, especially for the price.

As a big-time audio enthusiest, I'm extremely picky about the type of "cans" I use for listening. I won't touch those mic/headphone combos and will instead use a standard pair of Audio Technica headphones..

I have also hooked up the wii u into a standard stereo receiver for fantastic sound clarity over large speakers and headphones. B)

But you're paying double the price, and they're only headphones. They don't have a mic piece.

I think the headphone jack is only for that: headphones.

Headset connections are probably done at the Wii U console itself.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON
