I'm wondering if they use the same disc or a higher memory disc. I guess it would be counter-productive to use the same lame cd.

Awesome - Pulling apart 360's and PS3's to repair is obnoxious - this looks light years easier.

Either way, I think other people get paid to do that. I've had my Playstation3 replaced for free when it finally died.  It was 5 years old.

If you had to pay for it, that would be different. But, a whole article on how to dismantle a system that's been out for 3 days is a little unnecessary. Lol

A lot of people like to tinker, so articles like this will come in handy later down the road when people cut windows in their Wii Us or do some other sort of mods. Being the first, iFixit has become the go to because Their guides are simple and detailed.

It will also certainly help those who need to repair themselves and have the confidence to do it themselves.

https://www.google.i...?q=12.5 GB/s *4

The ram is separated in 4 x 4 Gb(4 x 512 MB) at DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) which is 12800 MB/s which is 12.5 GB/s
Depending on how it's piped into the cpu and gpu that could give 50GB/s which is twice the speed of the 360's RAM.

Or am I missing something?

Awesome! I love seeing inside hardware, also means i don't have to do it myself and invalidate my warrenty. That being said, i can't imagine it will be long before we start seeing modded consoles! Would love a to see a clear case mod become available. :)

They dont appear to be giving each ram chip its own bus. So it looks like main ram is 12.8 Gb a second.

The low speed of the ram isnt as big a deal as people are making it because the main memory doesnt feed the cpu/gpu like it does the ps360, its part of a much better memory heiarchy. Its more or less just a giant cache between the disc and the extremely high speed low latency embedded ram on the cpu/gpu.

How do you tell if it's got a bus or not from that image?

I was talking about the specifications taken from the serial mumber on the ram.

It looks like it gives specifications for the package, not by the chip. The package is 4 chips. And Nintendo confirmed Low speed Main memory a couple months ago with the wii u teardown iwata asks, He literally said word ford 'Low speed High capacity main ram'. 12.8 Gb a sec fits that description, 50? No, not really.

Although Im not sure what picture you are talking about, there are tons on the web, but you can easily see data buses on any substrate man.

The chips are 4Gb, which is 512 MB
512 by 4 is 2GB, which is the full system memory.

The specs for the Ram are of 4Gb chips, which would mean those are the specs for each individual ram module, surely?

As for what Iwata said, the CL on the cheeps are 11, which is p. slow.
Compared to the 3DS ram which has latency of 2, 3 or 4. I forget which.

Sorry but I have a question what is the point of Nintendo have 2 gigs of ram in their system if its speed is slow wouldn't it be better to have faster ram but less of it or what I'm confused with this.

I know that I'm just wondering what postives having this size of ram but slow has over smaller ram but faster ram like I know they has be positive and negatives to both these.
Like for example I hear that due to slow ram speed and weaker cpu a game like Skyrim wouldn't really work on the wiiu and even though those threads I dislike reading they might be truth to what they are saying .
