I think the Masked Man (MOTHER 3) is the best: he's essentially a good guy turned bad, except he's heartless, not even stopping at trying to slay his own brother, and he doesn't intentionally do it. It's also a nice touch to have the final boss be emotionally challenging as well as challenging with gameplay!

I never really saw Masked Man as a villain.
He was simply the medium in which Porky committed his atrocities. Claus himself was more of a straight tragic figure than an antagonist.

I'm glad there's at least some people that like MOTHER/EarthBound! Over at 3DS Buzz, there were absolutely no people, so it felt kind of awkward when I posted some news on MOTHER 4, feeling excited, only to have no one reply. . . .

I just realized I didn't mention Smithy from Super Mario RPG. He's probably the weirdest boss I've seen, but I love his music, so he's automatically one of my favorite bosses! Dimentio (Super Paper Mario) is another one, since I like how he looks, and he's kind of a. . . wow. I was just going to say something that would have spoiled it for a lot of people. I'll just say I like the twist and how nonchalant he is!

I wouldn't rate Bowser as a villain. Every time he's done something it's kidnapped Princess Peach, and that's out of love. He practically never does anything unless Peach is involved.

Characters like Dimentio and Fawful actually went out of their ways to destroy civilisations, or so it would seem.

Kefka is the epitomy of evil. He destroyed the world and became god. Dont let his fruity appearence fool you. He is a friggin demon. Way more badass than Sephiroth.
