This pic was much better. The shading and detail are definitely beyond the last gen. How many racing games have you seen with foliage like that. Heck, how many games period. The only ones I can think of were made by Crytek and they were FPS.

Long time no see... but on topic I can't wait to see this actually in motion. should be sweet. Cool they are delivering and not delaying like project cars and 90's arcade racer but yes I hope this releases before the end of the year?

They are getting fantastic mileage out of their instancing. The density and detail of the assets is fantastic, and the only place it is conspicuous that its being instanced is the trees... er, tree.... Which nobody will really be paying attention to blazing by @60 fps.

I will. Every racing game I first play to play like Normal then go back to tracks drive really slow to look at how nice they look. Every racing game since Top Gear Overdrive. (wish Nintendo would get that series back to life)

I am also pretty existed about this game, also the comments from the developer pretty much confirmed that wii u has pretty good capabilities and good amount of edram bandwidth that it can handle triple buffering for the deffered rendering with ease and this technique is known to take a lot bandwidth and crytek knows that since the esram on xbox one is barely enough for the framebuffer of 900p and the gbuffer for the deffered rendering, but with wii u shinen only uses 1/3 of the edram for the triple buffering with g buffers and about 7.1MB of edram for the framebuffer with double buffering, that still leaves almost half main edram for other things

 

the art style seems to resemble wipeout hd for the ps3

Yeah if I am not mistaken they said that they decided to go with a more realistic artstyle. going to be cool to see the first gameplay trailer. They are hardworkers I am sure it should be a treat.

The expresso can do in a clock what jaguar takes many clocks to do FACT

Expresso has the same custom data compression as gekko and broadway max 4to1 for both genetsl code and floating point

Jaguar obviously does not.

Powerpc cl a slightly less of a core than broadway at 1ghz utterly destroys atom @1.6ghz utterly desimated it and at the time was hailed the fastest 32bit core on the planet and faster than a g5 per clock easily

Now at 1.6ghz bibcat was slightly better than ATOM and jaguar bobcsts replacment was SLIGHTLY faster again SLIGHTLY

Its atom then bobcat then jaguar but at much much lower clocks powerpc cl UTTERLY DESTOYS THEM

Expresso is far more forward thinking than ppc cl and is a smaller die and has high bandwidth edram as catch and a direct link to gpu edram

Commonsense expresso ABUSES JAGUAR WITH EASE

Under full compresdion ratio the catch is 12 mb and the bandwidth effectivness is massive

Expresso has around 12 x the bandwidth of broadway

Thrn add in the ultrs low latency of ibm mcm and optermized ddr3 and the gpu edram its clear wiiu had fantastuc cpu performance

Ps4 has gdneric jaguar cores and slow as hell gddr5

In all benchmarks gddr5 mrmory halfs cpu performance vs ddr3 FACT

If you were talking about a genral PC performing several different tasks and not just gaming, then DDR3 can perform more efficient reads between the CPU and MEMORY but NOT in a gaming environment.

On a side note, the Wii U does not have to be more powerful than another console, it is adequate for HD rendering and since Nintendo have an awesome game cataloge and IPs they don't have to try and compete on the hardware front, just let Sony and Microsoft fight that out between themselves, at the end of the day I like and buy Nintendo consoles for their amazing games, not because they have better hardware than another company.

Thanks for doing that. It makes it a bit better to follow. Some of the users early on in the thread cup of tea, megafenix only seem to appear on these forums when some story about the wii u hardware comes out. They then start posts walls and walls of info some of which might be factual but mixed with a lot of hogwash.

 

To get the thread a bit back on track a bit regarding hardware, I did come across a user from another forums who said the wii u os was running on a separate cpu. This was posted back around  the launch of the wii u but apparently the story crept up again elsewhere, perhaps on wiki or something. For all I know and others here, and i remember asking 3dude, that story isn't true.

but that was what made it significant the guy did this before people knew the name of the cpu. he said what the CPU was going to be before anyone knew. i guess I was thinking of another forum. I thought he did post here one time though... I guess not.
