What games have the ability to play against friends in other locations?  I can't seem to find anything to do with other online except post comments and message. If there aren't Wii U games, are there any Wii games (note, I am thinking family games that my 9 year old could play with family in another state)

You could play sonic and allstars racing transformed online. Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Assassins Creed 3 have online multiplayer aswel but it may not be appropriate for your 9 year old to play. Im not sure of any other games though. These are all Wii U games btw. As far as regular Wii games go you could try Mario Kart.

I'm not sure but I believe Super Smash Bros. on the Wii has online multi player.

sonic all stars racing transformed and Bops 2 seem to be really fun online multiplayer games at the moment

If its wii too you can play Mario sports mix online. It's a pretty good game. I have Mario kart wii and there's tons of ppl playing that still.

There is also Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Trine 2 which you can download from the eShop. Both excellent games.

Also mass effect has a online multi player however it's only co-op but it is good and no headset required.

Black Ops 2 isn't really suitable for a nine year old though. The same goes for Assassin's Creed 3 and Mass Effect 3.

Man man, black ops is online, but it's also a war game. I think it's not appropriate for your child, but hey, that's not of my business, plus you might play the game alone
