HELP! Wii U stopped playing ANY Wii games a few days ago. Wii U games still work. Any Wii game put in gets an error message: 160-0101. If I touch the Wii button on the console, and then use the Wii remote controller to start the Wii channel, TV goes dark and stays dark. Nintendo said they never heard of this problem and to send the console in. Before I do so, any suggestions? THANKS!

If Nintendo doesn't know what the issue is, I doubt anyone else can help you. Probably best to send it in. Sucks that happened though. Hope the problem gets resolved!

Never heard of this problem my heiny. You are not the first with this exact same problem.

I dont know when if or how nintendo will adress this. But its likely too late for your current machine. They will need to replace it.

I can tell you, though, that the open source WILL find a solution to this, and they will do it better and faster than nintendo.

They always do.

I don't think you can mod the Wii Mode for Wii U.

Well make sure your video sends people to the latest version that has been made for wii u's wii mode. Not the last version out for wii.

oh lol, so you were.

Honestly, im a little wary of homebrewing my wii u without bootmii making it unbrickable. Wii's firmware was highly volatile garbage, with its worse most crash prone files replaced by much more stable code with bootmii installed.

With bootmii locked out of the most recent firmware updates, of wii and wii u, you are left at the mercy of nintendos unstable wii firmware.

Which im sure youve unfortunately had first hand experience at just how unstable it can be. Even without modding it.

My console is the same. I fire up the wii mode and the screen just goes black after i press the button with the wiimote. I have to yank the power out to get it up and running again. The guy from nintendo also told me he'd never heard of this problem and told me i'll have to send it in for repair. Oh the joys of early adoption!
