Now is there a trick to lower my ping? I've seen videos on Youtube, but the comments usually say they don't work. And if there isn't, do any of you cod fanatics know certain weapons or tactics that go well with slow internet?

Best you can do is make sure nothing else is using your internet at the time.

It's all down to your provider really.
Best you can do is make sure nothing else is using your internet at the time.
Is it a big deal if I have my pc on, which is connected to the internet, but is not doing more than recieving chat messages, and not downloading/streaming or anything?
And so, all these 'how to lower your ping' videos and tutorials are bullcrap?

I'd blanketly say yes they are.Is it a big deal if I have my pc on, which is connected to the internet, but is not doing more than recieving chat messages, and not downloading/streaming or anything?

Do you have an example of one though?
Ping is how long a packet takes to get from you to a and back from a to you.
If your isp chooses a cheap route, then you'll have a bad ping.
Shouldn't really matter too much unless it's something like skype, but even then it won't make too much of a dent.

Its because you pay for live so they maintain the servers a lot better. Thats what I keep trying to tell people who whinge about paying for live. Its so worth it.
He is talking about MW2, which uses p2p. You are connecting to another player, your are not connecting to a dedicated server. Your point is fallacious and Live remains a rip off.
As for the OP your ping sounds higher then it should be, what internet connection, router etc do you use, and are you wired? Your ping of course is not all that causes lag, however a ping of under 40 should not be noticeable unless something else is causing issues. As for your ping in MW2 that depends on factors outside of you control as it uses the awful p2p which far to many games especially on console have began using.

I'm not just talking about mw2. But in a lot of games I have on both consoles I have played side by side and the servers on xbox are so much better. With black ops one on ps3 with full green connection it takes almost half a clip to kill someone. Identical set up on xbox and same green connection it only takes 2-3 bullets to kill someone. Its like that with a lot of games as well.
Well it DOES take half a clip for me to kill someone. Which makes me suck at COD. In fact, I don't think I suck at this game at all. But when I take nearly two/three times as much ammo to kill an enemy? Yeah, not so strange I'm apporaching a KD below 1 average.

I really don't know what internet connection I use. My parents pay for it. But I use wired internet, not wi-fi or anything. And yeah, I don't like P2P either. Whenever the host ragequits or anything, ugh I hate that.
