I think that regardless of what the people think of the idea (which will probably have a negative turnout), it wouldn't matter. IP Chat is a service from IP Boards, and has little to no customisation.

People would cheat the system by liking everything they post in the chat. Bad idea.

no worries, a large problem with it is that certain members don't like others and when a member is being mean to them they would get a like for it etc....not to mention you might not have a means of going back and unliking it if it turns out that person was wrong..........over all it would lead to corrupt likes that you don't earn via posts

We should see how it works first. If it does lead to corrupt likes we should remove it.

I can't see this happening, realistically. Apart from the fact that it isn't technically possible with IP.Chat, the ability to "like" chat messages sounds like it will bring a lot more bad behaviour than good.
