U Play app for Wii U (pictures and details)

27 November 2012 - 11:53 PM

So the U Play app for Wii U isn't out yet (as of this post that is) but it's already getting talked about on a number of blogs. Here are a few pictures of what you can expect once it's released (possibly tomorrow for free) on the eShop.

From NintendoEverything...

Details about the Uplay app are as follows:

- Load the app and choose a game
- This allows you to discover exclusive services and rewards
- Earn Uplay units by completing specific Actions
- 4 Actions per game to unlock as you progress
- Select the Actions box to see what you’ve earned and learn how to earn each one
- Redeem Units to earn Rewards
- Choose the Rewards box to see details of already-owned Rewards and find out what you can unlock next
- Choose the Games box and discover more Actions and Rewards for all Ubisoft games you own
- Username: Shows Uplay username, personal quote and number of Units available
- Press the “+” button to view, edit and change your profile
- News: Keep up to date with upcoming Ubisoft releases and new downloadable content
- 6. Uplay TV, Friends & Shop: “Coming soon!”
- 4 Actions, 4 Rewards, 100 Units per game
- Can redeem units earned from one game and use them for another
- Can show list of actions and rewards
- Uplay option should appear in the main menu of the game
- Log into your account or make a new one
- You’ll then be notified when you’ve earned units while playing
- You can always see what Rewards are available by using Uplay on all your devices (Mobiles, Tablets, Consoles, PC or Web)
- Uplay in game reward: Find more details about the Actions and Rewards available in your Wii U games here

Favorite online hot spots (news sites, boards, communities)

27 November 2012 - 05:01 AM

I've been trying to find a "home" for my online antics, a base to discuss my gaming quirks and other sorts of real life adventures, but like everyone I also have a number of favorite sites I frequent each time I go online.

So my question posed to everyone here is: what are your favorite online hot spots?

For me it's most recently been...

ScrewAttack.com -- been visiting them since 2006, (which was their launch year) though I haven't been enjoying their new videos and staff.

TheVerge and Polygon -- the new "hip" places for news in both the tech and gaming fields with a number of established writers manning the latest posts and podcasts.

GiantBomb and the 8-4 Play podcast -- for the latest and greatest in newest releases, as well as some of the best and more random discussions on Japanese games and culture.

And, of course, NeoGAF -- because where else would anyone go to get up-to-the second news and fanboy reactions to what just happened in the gaming universe.

Hola to all!

Greetings to all!

Name's TanookiRicky (which is also my Nintendo ID)...

Got my Wii U on launch night and don't have any multiplayer games at the moment but would love to get some people added to my already populating friend list for miiverse drawings and eventual online play once I get some games that do that.

As for what I'm into, I lurk Neogaf a lot, used to be a professional tech gamer (that moonlighted a bit into the games side of things, occasionally), and I'm up for all types of gaming -- pc included.
