In Topic: What will you do if the Wii U is Nintendo's last ever console?

To be honest I'd kind of prefer it. Except for the DSi, the entire DS and 3DS line feels cheaply made. Nintendo games on hardware like the Vita would be great.

Although Nintendo just making better hardware would be preferable.

No HDMI, but component cables are an improvement.

Nice vid, thanks for posting :D

People seem to forget the biggest and most obvious scam EA has been doing. Tell me, why do they release the same sports game every single year? What is the difference between FIFA 12 and 13? There we go, they're stealing those poor fans...

Because people keep buying them year after year.

In Topic: MH3 Not what I was expecting

01 March 2013 - 11:42 PM

im not bad at video games if that's what your saying. I just thought that the combat in monster hunter is very bland, and now I know it's built for the 3DS the graphics and small areas make a lot more sense. And maybe the reason newbies are so bad at it is because their was no tutorial and I had no idea what I was doing. And if load screens are "tradition" I'm sorry but that's a really really bad tradition to have. I'm glad they will do away with them on MH4. Hopefully the demo was just a bad representation of the game, because if not i don't know how anyone would enjoy it. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

Bland? Really? Bland is the typical hack n' slash people were expecting. Can you even name a game with combat similar to Monster Hunter? If you want a tutorial, just read the digital manual and try out attacks on non-boss enemies. I don't know why people expect everything to be given to them.

In Topic: Explain, what is the appeal of Monster Hunter Franchise?

26 February 2013 - 05:34 PM

First of all, Monster Hunter isn't an RPG, and I'd hardly consider it modern, since it's followed basically the same formula since the first game and is very different from current action adventure games.

The main appeal of Monster Hunter is its challenge. Maybe you beat the Lagomi (or did you?) just by whaling away at it, but that won't work for most monsters. Most weapons require good timing and prediction, so when you're fighting monsters that are much faster than you, it can get pretty tough.

Another appeal is multiplayer. Online monsters are tougher than they are in single player, so you need good teamwork and weapon diversity to take them down.

One last thing I really like about Monster Hunter is that your character has no stats, so the only way to improve is through practice and observation, not grinding like your typical RPG. You can make better weapons and armor, but these are useless if you're a bad player.
